Cool 2015 BMW X5 M (F85) Showing More Skin [More Pics Added]

BIMMERPOST NEWS
2015 BMW X5 M Showing More Skin

Story updated 12/23/14 with newest photos.

Testing on the second generation BMW X5 M continues while the prototypes shed some camouflage. This is the first red F85 X5 M we've seen and as with earlier prototypes, it wears the signature M components - huge front air intakes, more aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X5 model). We also have a better look at the quad exhaust pipes which, unlike the current X5 M, feature a slanted angled design (same as the upcoming M3 and M4).

We now see double-slatted kidney grilles fitted to the X5 M prototype for first time. This has become another signature M styling bit for the latest M models, including the M5 LCI facelift, M6 and the upcoming M3/M4. The side mirrors remain heavily camouflaged and what lies beneath may somewhat resemble the M4 mirrors, with a top prong extending close to, but not attached to the A-pillar. At least that's what the photos suggest.

The one styling feature which isn't apparent from the photos however, are the usual side M gills like the ones on the current X5 M. The only visible embellishment on the front fenders appear to be air breather vents, much like on the standard models. It remains to be seen whether the vents will feature a more stylized design than the versions on the regular X5.

The X5 M is expected to weigh in a bit less than the current X5 M, yet it will feature more power by way of the S63Tu engine from the new M5/M6. Exact power is not yet known, but it's likely to uprated from the 560hp in the M5/M6.

Deliveries should begin around the Summer of 2014.

Here is a great technical article on the s63TU which will most likely find its way into the new X5M:

And for further reading, here is our summary of how the S63Tu improves on the S63 motor (which powers the current X5M).

Production version will look really good! Does the X5M have flared fenders? Doesn't seem like it or only very subtle?

Also would CCB be available? This would be a better (visual) option than the blue steel brakes.

Why camo?

Doesn't need camo, in fact no m model needs camo anymore because these retarded m body kits looks almost identical to the production M models. It's absolutely ridiculous why they've made them look alike. They should be completely unique.

I just wish the production version looks much more better than this.
Do not like it at this moment.

I think it will have the same bumper the X5 M sport. I see BMW have already develop the carbon fiber lip for X5 M sport front bumper, don't think they will develop a new one for 2015 X5M. Look at the bumper on these pictures it's the same.

Agreed! They're too similar now. I love the last's X5Ms massive hips and fenders. Just pure sex driving down the road. No mistaking it for a standard. Other then tailpipes on this one, you'd have to REALLY know what you're looking at.

I agree does not look much diff. than the M-Sport option except the exhaust. Maybe the final version will still look different?

Completely agree...just take the M line, remove the huge fog lights and put a quad exhaust and here it is the M...it's a bit disappointing to me.

You sure about that? I thought F86 would be reserved for the M4 Gran Coupe (if BMW decides to make that car).
