Plow through 30 cm of snow today with ease in my X6M.
Have to tone myself down before a false sense of invincibility kicks in. I would have never survive in my old ride - M3 coupe. Glad I made the switch just in time ![]() |

I currently have an e92 m3 (which is sitting in my garage) and have thought about trading for an x6 or x6m, is it worth doing? And is it worth going for the M version? I live in upstate NY.

since you have an m3, I think you would enjoy the added performance of the x6m. test drive one I'm sure you will real like it especially if you could use the benefit of an awd car

I have the X6 50i and it feels great! Pay another 20k to have an M would be nice if you can afford it... But I love mine fully loaded at 86k... You have an SAV and a coupe feeling at the same time.. Best of
Both worlds! |

*The X6 comes with crappy tires for the winter. Mine are the 19" Bridgestones and they are horrific in the snow/ice. Horrific. If you go with the 20" wheels/tires, you get a nicer look, but summer only tires. So as wzj519 points out, the X6 (at least the way it comes from the factory) is not a winter beast without a little help of some new tires.

I loved my M3 and was able to drive it for two winters (thanks to Global warming). But it definitely not a Winter ride. The X6 3.5 is not even in the picture since being a M3 owner...I already have a taste of German engineer power. I also realized that pricing is not a big difference between a loaded X6 5.0 and an X6M...so I stick with the M brand. I just finished the break-in period before Winter arrived...so I didn't have much chance to open it up. But I did drive one in the BMW driver training (Fascination) held at Mont_Tremblant QC. You would never think of the X6M as a track car...but there I am driving on the track with it. And thats when I knew...it will be my choice of CUV. |
