Aftermarket Aerokit for 2011+ E70
Has anyone ordered this or tried it? I was wondering how fitment is. Seems like it'll save $300 from the original kit.
Thoughts? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-X5-E70-1...ce230d&vxp=mtr

I am on the same boat as you. Been looking at them for a while. Price looks good but just the thought of the aftermarket scares me away. Fitting will always be questionable.....I think, I am going to save a little bit more and get the OEM.

I also had the OEM Mtech kit, and added on the Hamann rep front lip which fit fine too. Let's see what everyone else says. That extra $ we spend on the kit is pretty much for paint. ![]()

I am glad that you have had a great experience with them, me on the other hand have not :-( Hopefully someone will chime in and give us some insight. Already got a price on the paint and my guy wants $500 painted/installed. I think that's fair. What do you say ??

Also, there are only 6 total painted pieces. (more matte black pieces too.) Here is the DIY I've found.

The paint and prep should not be more than 3-4 hours total from the shop. $250-$300 from a good paint shop should do it. The guide calls for roughly 1 hour install for those who have done it. For those who have not(body shop that is) it might take a first run by taping it to make sure it aligns.
My shop did mine for $300 painted and installed. My 09 Aero has more paint coverage than the LCI Aero parts do. Alignment seems a little more picky on the Non-LCI Aero's I think. |

I purchased the eBay kit, I would rate it 9 out of 10. Body shop charged me $500 painted and installed on my 2008. My body shop does all collision work for local lambo and Ferrari dealer. They said it took more than (I gave them BMW PDF showing 1 hour labor) an hour of labor to install but were very happy with fitment(at first they were worried when I said Chinese bodykit).

2005x - it confirmed what others have said about the Ebay Aero kits. I have seen one first hand and can tell you that they are almost identical to the OEM Aero's The BMW instructions are off about an hour for install time due to aligning up the pieces correctly. At least on my Aero for my E70.

XRAM - I am sure if the fitment were bad you would have heard negative feedback already. Since these don't actually mount to the car itself but rather to a frame that attaches to the car it won't require as much adjustment as a lets say a non-factory bumper, etc.
Shop should not charge you more than the required 1 hour. It might take them a little bit more than that if they have never mounted one before. They should tape it and measure it before applying the screws to make it official I wouldn't hesitate to do it. |

Oh wait. I just realized. You have a 2007. That is Pre-Lci. Those kits are different and cheaper than the LCI ones. I have a 2012 which is different.
