This is ridiculous (POLICE STATE)
http://www.wcax.com/story/18936326/v...arget-speeders
Basically cops in vt will now give you a ticket for 1 mph over the limit. ![]() |

Yeahhh!!!! Breaking the law should be legal!
![]() Or here's an idea. Just don't speed in high traffic areas where enough deadly accidents have caused an increased police presence. |

I highly doubt they are going to be pulling people over for going 1mph over the speed limit. If you see 20 cars all going 5 mph over the speed limit and one car going 10mph over the speed limit.. Guess who's getting pulled over. As long as you drive safe and maintain traffic speed they probably wont mess with you unless the cop is a real dick.

You are the type that probably wouldn't mind a monitoring device inside your car, and cameras in and around your home. After all, if you aren't doing anything wrong why worry? Pfft.

My mom got pulled over for a 28 in a 25 on our block as she was coming home once. this was a few years ago though. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me... I know that it's a speed LIMIT and all... but I think there should be a 5mph cushion up and down.

Yep, can't believe what this country is coming to. I have a friend who was banned from securities, and all he did was lie once about the bonds he was selling to a client. WTF ever happened to three strikes and you get a verbal warning? I mean lie once, and permanently banned? There are people who lie every day and it's just a part of their job. Ever been to a car dealership?

I'm failing to see the issue...
Cops in any state across the country can pull you over for driving 1MPH over the speed limit... it's breaking the law. Do they do it? No, cause it's a waste of their time. They have bigger fish to fry |

I know stealing just one dollar is illegal ... But I think there should be a 5-dollar cushion... You know the law (if not, look around - it's posted on those rectangular white signs with black writing), live it or accept the penalty - not too difficult to understand. Speeding is no doubt dangerous, but I'd like to see JUST ONCE a tailgaiter get ticketed for following too close, which I feel is more dangerous than going 5mph over the limit.
If I was unscrupulous, with the brakes on my car (and yours I'm sure!) I could have retired on "brake test" funds by now. I just got a ticket yesterday so I'm probably biased... |

""This year has told us that last year was the anomaly," Ide said. "This year we are back on track to mirror the statistics of previous years.""
since last year was the anomoly, let's have a kneejerk reaction and react in a completely overblown fashion. i suppose this is now a normal occurance with gov't agencies. both north and south of the border. ![]() |

Sounds like scare tactics. Radars are certified to NHTSA standards and they are to be accurate to +-5mph. Now are they more accurate than that? Yes. Mine was within 1mph. However, my certification certificate will state accurate to +-5mph. Any ticket within that range will get thrown out if the driver takes it to court. I always gave them 15-20mph. Only interested in the "high rollers". I cannot remember the last time I wrote a speeding ticket, something about marked car slows them down. Or is it the fact that I don't give a shit about speeders unless it is just outrageously fast.

If the one going 10 mph over the speed limit is the rusty old pickup truck with no speedometer and Vermont license plates, it's going to be the BMW with out-of-state plates going 5 mph over the speed limit.
