The reveal of the all new 2014 BMW X5 (F15) is imminent, but testing continues on the F15 X5 M.

Testing on the F15 X5 M began last year [first sighting], but current mules have now dropped much camouflage. What's revealed are the expected signature M components - huge front air intakes, aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X5 model). We also get a better look at the quad exhaust pipes which, unlike the current X5 M, feature a new angled design (like we've seen on the F82 M4 prototypes).

The F15 X5 is expected to weigh less than the current E70 X5 and ride on a modified version of the F10 5 series chassis. As for the next X5 M's powertrain, expect it to be powered by the S63Tu from the new M5/M6 (current X5 M uses the S63 engine), but potentially with a power bump up to the 580HP ballpark. Read about the differences between the current X5 M's S63 engine and the S63Tu engine.

The F15 X5 will hit dealers this Fall as production begins in August 2013. We should see the X5 M model within a year of that.

We've already spied the X5 M on video previously, screaming around the Nurburgring. Be sure to check out the video as well as the latest photos.

I like the look idk everyone's hating on the restyle. I'm also glad they haven't turned it into a crossover like many other brands have done with their suv's

Looks beefy to me. But then again, I'll wait when the camouflage is gone.

Man, I really dislike those new tapered exhaust tips that have been spied on all the M cars. They look straight out of 1993.

I really wish the x5 didnt have the headlights meeting the grill and they left that to the 3er, even the x3 could have it. would rather see the x5 have the LCI 5er headlights. Very sculpted fenders from the looks of it.

Isn't it supposed to be a bigger version of the new x3? Maybe I am remembering incorrectly but I thought this was the path that they were going.

Sure, like the X4 is supposed to be a smaller X6 but the looks of both won't necessarily be identical. Take the E83 X3, it does not look like the E70 or the E53 X5 (depending on what you want to compare considering the generations).

There are leaked pictures out of what the X5 is going to look like, and aside from the SAV-shape of the body, the F15 X5 does not look like the F25 X3.

X5 has always started life as a CUV... it's not a SUV (traditional body on truck frame SUV's... ie: tahoe, 4runner, expedition). It's a unibody, and if anything was one of the first CUV's ever to be released.

Having a hard time with the side profile - looks so looooong... Front and back look good to me. But the side looks like an iL model?

I hope it has a third row!

the only thing that was missing from the current gen X5M IMO.

Without the third row, it has no real advantage over a Cayenne Turbo except price.

Price is enough but I agree, a usable 3rd row would make it that much better, imo.

Note to BMW: please reconsider full front and rear fixed piston calipers as standard equipment in M cars.

This crap of sliding calipers in the rear is simply cheap and out of character in these cars. Especially in carbon brakes. That's beyond absurd.

Thanks.

I agree, fixed piston should be the standard but keep in mind the new $200k+ Bentley GT speed has the same sliding rear setup.

It's no excuse, just something to think about.
