Anyone Track (road course) their X5M yet?

Running Thunderhill next friday with this beast....should be interesting.

Figure I'll end up roasting the tires and perhaps brakes....we'll see.

Anyone track theirs yet?

Take an extra set of front pads. That's a lot of weight to haul down.
I'm curious to hear how the tires hold up. Keep us posted.

Summary of my day on track (Thunderhill Raceway):

60 degrees and sunny. Perfect day to be out running the car.

Started the day with half tank of 91 and added half tank of 100 octane ($80).

The car was an absolute beast...running down many cars while holding it's own in the corners (as best it could).

My MPG display showed 6mpg. It was worse than that...probably 2-4mpg at best.

Before lunch I had put on about 70 miles on track. I filled up over 3/4 of the tank with 100 octane again. $110 in gas this time.

I put 100 in to help reduce detonation events running the truck at it's best....Probably didn't need it, but cheap insurance if you ask me.

No heat soak, ever.

No brake fade, ever.

Hit 130mph in the front straight at my fastest....consistently 120-125. I was pushing myself each lap to see how much further I could push it until turn 1.

Tires - made it. Michelin Latitudes...the fronts took the worst of it and got chewed up pretty well...that said, still plenty of tread left.

I ran it in M mode the entire time (as if there was another option...).

Interesting thing was the exhaust pipe after the flapper that opens....was charred brown/white from the heat. In fact...the back of the car was so damn hot from exhaust! Interesting....

All said and done, guys on track couldn't believe this thing (neither could I).

Wonderful vehicle in every way...I love this thing.

Nice. I'm sure you bruised some egos as you stayed with or passed any real sports cars. I was tempted to take my X5 50i to the track but now I have a 335is for that fun. Any pictures or videos?

Nice tires...

What did you expect,, hahahaaha??? First time i ran at the 'ring with an '07 Audi TT 2.0TFSi, tires hadn't as much wear as brakes did..... cause they were running on fumes at the end of the first lap!!!!

Is your tank stock??? I'm looking to get mine into the track, but exhaust temperatures seems like a common issue on this cars, isn't it???

In EE.UU you are lucky to be able to run on 100 octane. Here in Spain the best we get is 98......thanks god....!!!

I had a very very near drag race with a 525Hp '10 MB CLS 63AMG (mine was stock but the cat-back at that time) and i'm sweating to see my truck with the complete SS decat exhaust and X-pipe and ESS tune...

Nice day. Cheers!!!

Great report atc! W ith2-4 mpg at speed looks like this rig is not going to be much of a track racer. Im sure you had turned a few heads, however! Did the higher octane fuel "feel" any different from the 91 around in the real world?

That must have been fun, I wonder how the diesel would perform. I got a little taste at the performance center during my delivery.
