Just got my 50i MSport on Friday...interestingly the air filters are not accessible. In fact, I couldn't even find them mentioned in the manual. I guess this is also the case on my 550i since it's the same engine, but I never looked into it on that car. The air filters appear to be tucked under the back side of the plastic engine shroud, and there would have to be a 180 degree turn for the air to enter the intake manifold...not exactly an ideal air pathway.

Definitely not the way I would route the airbox.

Thank you for considering our tune as I know you have a couple of other options on the table. We have been working strictly on BMW's for 32 years with thousands of cars on the road with our tune and or supercharger systems /turbo systems.

Without going into who's tune is better I will just say our tune has gone through many revisions before coming to a final release. Our tune will work in any climate without throwing boost to high or boost not reached codes. With over 200 X6 /x5 x5m/x6m tunes on the road I can safely say our tune is not only reliable but will offer you as much power as you can safely squeeze out of the stock turbos.

We also offer 3 ways to get your vehicle tuned.

1. Take it to one of our many qualified flash station dealers around the world. Please check this list for dealers in your area. (In red) http://www.activeautowerke.com/dealers.php

2.Send your ecu to us for a quick same day return with 2nd day air included.

3.Purchase a Simon tool and flash your vehicle at home (Allows you to keep your stock file)

I have loaded the AA software to my 50i.

This is crazy fast.. 5th gear 80 with 3k rpm. It pull all the way to 130 no problem without shift to 6th gear.

Off the line.. The tq is scary. I don't have the tool to measure how fast is it. But i can tell it pull a lot harder than stock.

Got the latest AA flash installed on x5 50i a few weeks ago. Amazing how much harder it pulls from stand still. Car is an absolute beast! More responsive and less lag, too. Raced an x5m from a traffic light and we were neck and neck til we slowed down around 60.

Besides the boost, the other differences between the engines are pretty subtle from what I remember...larger intercooler, exhaust, etc. It's not enough to account for the 60 hp difference between a tuned 50i and a stock M, so I'm guessing it must be running bigger turbos.

More info...X6M has lower compression ratio (9.3:1 vs 10:1 for 50), makes peak power higher (6000 rpm vs 5500), and C&D lists stock boost at 17.4psi, so that could account for the difference.
Andrew, how much HP / torque would your down pipes add to a 50i?

Hey Andrew,

I'm installing AR downpipes w/ race cats on my 2011 50i next week. My engine is otherwise stock. I have the Burger JB stage 1 tune for my engine, but have not yet installed it. I have been weary to install it since I haven't been able to find much feedback from other customers using it on the N63 X6's.

I'm highly considering purchasing this AA tune and installing this instead. Does the tune take the DP's into consideration and "work with" them to optimize power? What would your guess be, power-wise, with the DP's and AA tune using 93 octane?

Is the tune you have linked to your website above the Stage 2? Because the description on the website still advertises 40hp/40lb torque increase for that tune and I would like to be sure that I am purchasing the updated "stage 2"

Our Downpipe software is an additional $100 which is our most current stage 2 software.

Feel free to give me a call if you have any more questions.
