spare tire question for x5m owners
Hello, I am new to the site and a fairly new x5m owner. Iam just curious because to day i was surfing around online and i saw the same truck as mine (2012 x5m) and it had a spare tire where mine has a "locking compartment". Does anyone know why my truck doesnt have a spare and said truck does? I understand my truck has the run flats on it stock, but i have 22' 3 piece adv1's,and run flats are not available or an option for me. just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about this or if other fellow owners could tell me if they have a "storage compartment" or a spare? thanks and happy new year to all.

I'm pretty sure you can get a spare tire kit to fill up that compartment. I have a storage compartment in mine. I think its a bmw accessory part that is about $450, I remember an old thread about spare tire kits

so lol i just finally solved my spare tire dilemma. $742.00 later i have the "correct" rim, tire, tray, jack wrench and clamp set up for my truck! this just seems ridiculous to me, but i could not find any other options that would work or properly stow away in the spare space provided. anyway if anyone wants/needs the part #'s for the correct spare set up im sure i could find them. i ordered mine from my dealership but i think bimmerzone has them aswell.

I have a 12' X5M with factory spare tire system. My intent is to remove the tire, jack et al except for long long trips into the middle of no where (as insurance) and to "clean-up" the spare compartment for use as "hidden" storage. Has anyone done this and if so what recommendations do you have for the "clean-up"?

I bought winters from the dealership and they swapped in 19" non run flats Pirelli Snow and Ice though their run flat tire insurance program. Long story short, I got a free spare tire kit.
