Lux Angel eye kit came in today

Lux Angel eye kit came in today for our new X5M.

Some tips for the install. After you remove the factory bulb take a good look at the tab location, as there are two larger and one smaller tab. The new Lux LED bulb will need to match up with the factory bulb and go in the same way.

Once it is in you can only turn it about 1/4" with your finger, the final tightening still require some sort of pliers or channel lock. For the life of me I couldn't get it to turn with just my fingers. I guess this is what aftermarket means.

Also not sure where to stick the ballast, I guess just throw it in the space below? No instruction were included.

But all in and works great.

Thanks, that's exactly what I did.

Too bad you live on the other end of coast or else we can hang out to go for a drive. Would be neat to have two identical white X5M on the road at the same time.

2012 X6? Doesn't it come with LED angel eyes?
These lux look great, but not as good at the OEM LED angel eyes.
A few observations
1. LEDs look sharper
2. Both LEDs have same "thickness", while the Lux inner eye seems to be thicker.
3. LEDs look whiter and brighter.

But I would take the Lux over the halo angel eyes anyday.

I intend to hang around for a while..

Very impressive, and doesn't look cheap aftermarket at all.
I ordered a set myself, can't wait to see how it looks like.

Thanks for the comparison pic.

Looks great! Do these look pretty much like the new 2012 3 series or 2012 X5's with LED's?

I don't think they do. At least on the pictures.
The OEM LEDs look white and brighter, while the LUX are a bit dimmer and bluish tones in them.

Since we are on a light related topic, does anyone know what the inner lights are for? The lights I am referring to are the lights the inner angel ring surrounds. I see there is a bulb inside, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to turn it on.

inner turns on when you signal or turn the wheel in that particular direction to help you see better, same with fogs.

Not on my 2011 35d (USA). The inner never turns on (not even sure there's a bulb).
Fog lights turn on depending on direction of wheel turn.

I don't think you do, either. I think you have twin turbos, and the intercooler air intakes are where the fog lights are on the X5.
I'll take the twins any time.
