X5 Top Tailgate Wont Open Help..... - XBimmers.com

Hi everyone im new to here as ive just brought myself a 52plate diesel sport. love it to bits but got a problem with the rear tailgate.The rear top tailgate will not open by the key or by pressing the button on the tailgate once the car is unlocked. Has anyone had this problem as the bloke who i brought it off said he has had all the wiring checked and that it is fine so it must be the lock its self. At the min i am having to open it by the latch inside what is a pain in the backside. All comments would be very helpfull.

I actually had this happen last Sunday. I had to open and close the tailgate several times in a short amount of time. Then it stopped opening. It would unlock, but it would not open. I tuned off the car, turned it back on and the problem was gone. This is the first time it has happened.
