Converting headlights to Euro spec (clear lens)

Hi Guys,

I just moved to the U.S. from Germany and purchased a 2012 X5 5.0. I noticed the headlights in the american spec X5 are amber and wanted to make them look the same as the BMW's in Europe. I was wondering if anyone on this forum had done this and could tell me where I can purchase the clear lens headlights and how much it costs? Thanks in advance for the info!

Even if you get a new headlight assembly, it will still be the same. You just need the X5 coded. Not sure if the dealership can do it, but some forum members can

Can't you just get the silver bulb for the corners?

That's just get rid of the yolk effect when the car is off. For US-spec cars, the ambers are always on when night lights are on.

I just wanted to let you know that I have seen LED bulbs on few suppliers websites that light up white with parking or headlights one and blink amber with the signals. They are two stage bulbs with two sets of LEDs on them. One set white and one set amber.
I think these would be the answer without the need for coding. I am not sure what type of bulbs X5 uses, but here is what I am talking about:

Can you provide the URL for these "supplier sites" you mention? I am also interested in making that change, less for the looks, but more because I am becoming convinced that other drivers see these better than the stock (red) ones.

Bought myself LEDs from those guys a couple years ago for my old car. They worked great and are very bright and quality.
Customer service was excellent, too.

Sorry for late reply, yes, that's the place I got above pictures from. However you need to make sure you get compatible ones that have everything built in to stop your system from throwing dead bulb warning. I have no idea what kind of socket BMW uses on X5 front turn signals.
