Sorry to hear that. If they were able to recode new keys I would think they are professionals, car is most likely in a container which would block normal GPS. I have extra theft tracking installed in mine that isn't associated with the BMW GPS.
Hopefully it was insured.

I do believe BMW Assist can help you track the location through GPS. But as dmlgc said, it might be in a container where GPS is blocked. It is still worth a try though. Just give them a call.

An X6 stolen from a garage...that's not an easy job. They really do sound like professionals. I am sorry to hear this bad news.

If you are going to spend the money to get an X6 hybrid, I would jump get the X6M and have a lot more fun!!!!

Garage List
If you are going to get another high end car I would add an aftermarket immobilizer. Sounds like the mafya either has a connection at a BMW dealership or they have a program to defeat the BMW system. Either that or get a big mean junkyard dog to sleep in your garage/car.

I have Lojack on mine. Came pre-installed. I said I did not want it so the dealer threw it in as part of the deal. Easier to do then removing it.

That fin on the roof? Does it have the BMW Assist antenna? or just sat radio antenna?

Very sorry to hear about that. That is a shock that it could be stolen without having the keys. I agree with above, it really sounds like they have an insider at BMW who gets them the keys programmed. How many BMW dealerships do tehy have in your city? It sounds like someone needs to look there first with that many cars stolen.

Ya...probably someone inside took advantage of the codes in the database. Probably all the cars sold from that dealer are at risk now

I wonder if the cops checked to see if all those stolen cars are coming from the same dealer?

My x6 was just stolen today in Budapest (Hungary) city center. Does anyone know how they managed to do it or how these A**holes do it normally with bimmers? I parked it for a little over an hour, when came back it was gone.
And Simon, do you have any news on your car?

There is another thread about guys scanning for your code but they usually have to be close to you. If they can get in, they can drive it off. Once they stop it, it cannot be restarted unless someone is getting another key from BMW.
That really sucks though. Hope they find it!

This is getting scary, is it really not possible that they improve things at the BMW factory... They know we will buy another beemer anyways...
