Just bought a new 2010 X5 4.8xdrive -- some questions.

I love my new ride, but I feel like an idiot for not waiting for the new 4.4 TwinTurbo. Does my new 4.8 have any advantages over the turbo?

It seems to have all the power I need and rides like a comfortable tank.

My other car is an 09 335i Convertible and I noticed that the in the gauge cluster, the center part (with milage and temp) seems much brighter on the 335 than in my X5. Even if I turn up the lighting in the X5 that center cluster info seems dim, does that sound right?

The X5 rocks though, what an awesome vehicle!

your car is not bad at all the LCI model with the new 4,4 v8 turbo might be a little faster but there isn't such a major upgrade....

With the MY2011 X5, the 4.4 twin-turbo V8 has more power and is allegedly more efficient with gasoline. The difference in hp is not in my opinion extremely important and the 4.8i will serve you well for a long long time. I would welcome however a better fuel consumption. Unless you absolutely need the extra power the 2010 30i or the 2011 35i would have been a better choice.

Regardless, your car looks great.

the 4.8 is a perfect balance in between the 35i & 50i. even the HP is right there in between. i would actually prefer the 4.8 if i can get a smoking deal now with the M Sport package. without the M package the new 50i looks much better than the 4.8 since the rear bumper is now painted on top. however, the lease deal on the 2011 isn't too pretty now.

One of key advantage with the 2011 X5 model is the new 8-speed transmission, which should provide a little better mileage.

4.8 is very well balanced however the 50i is much much faster. I own x6 50i and my brother in law has x5 4.8 we usually do drag races and difference is huuugee 10 cars ahead minimum. The bad side of 50i is the dead spot in D mode. It seems like it hesitates untill you press the pedal harder and it downshifts. Ooo and the sound is so great!!!
