Need Help! Malfuction :(
Gents,
I just bought a X6 50i a week ago and made a mistake not going with a 20" rim. And i'm not too fond of run flats either. I order and had installed yesterday a set of Enkei 20" rims. 275/45(f), 295/45(r). Yesterday, they made an error and put 275/40's on the front. This was corrected this morning. Sigh, I start going down the road normally, and give it a little gas to feel em' out. The esp light comes on and retards the throttle or however it works. it's doing this now everytime i give it extra gas. In a straight line, whatever. If I turn it off it's better. I've put it in neutral and it rolls fine. The esp light isn't staying on, just under heavier throttle. What is going on? I'm not tracking on how those rims/tires could cause this. Please help. Thank you for your insights. |

For those doing aftermarket rims/tires this is what happened. Evidently the larger the width of the tire it has an effect on the height of the tire even if it says 45 or 49 or whatever. The height of the rear tire was telling the car the rear was a tad higher or something. By going to 275/45's all around resolved the problem.

Agreed, but the sidewall on the 295/45 was sitting a little taller than the front 275/45's. Thus throwing off the computer. and as you wrote, every tire is a little different.
thanks. |
