Hello, I am new to this part of the forum. I just ordered an x6 5.0 and expect to get it Jan 1.

Only issue is that the supplier for the backup camera is out. Do you guys think this is a key option. I really like the way it displays the view.

Definitely need the rear view camera w/top view. It really helps the blindspots on this car. I wouldn't order an X6 without it.

I agree - it's a very useful feature to have the backup feature. I'm sure you can manage but I've had the car about 3 weeks now and it's difficult for me to gauge what's behind me without checking the backup camera - especially in dark areas.

For the X6, you definitely need the camera's help for parking and tight spots, especially backing up.

I'm a BMW Client Advisor & I had to get my X6 before Dec 31st so I lost out on the Camera option too! I've been with BMW for 9 yrs & tried every inside source I could to get the camera option, but in the end was forced to order it w/o it. I have to take delivery by the end of the year or I would've definitely waited. You can lock in any & all programs if you are financing, but I feel your pain!
Remember that PDC (park distance control) is standard... that helps me sleep at night!

I highly recommend getting the Rear View Camera. Although it does not have night vision, you dont want to miss out on a key component that can help boost resale potential. The Rear View camera is very helpful besides previous points mentioned. If you still have the opportunity, I encourage you to contact your dealer and have them postpone the order if possible, until they can supplement your car with a Rear View Camera.

it's a must , there a times like backing up to a curb that the side mirrors/rear view just will not give you information you need.

Turns there is no shortage of backup cameras. Can't wait for my sled to arrive. I just added sport package to build options after driving an X6M at the dealer.

I was also told that there was a shortage of the rear view. Dealer told me that the car won't likely get built until Jan 2010. I placed the order at the end of November.

DrEvil, where did you get your info that there was no shortage?

My same salesman that warned of the shortage later told me it was not true. He is a "top 25" sales guy for BMW worldwide. Mine goes into build at "week 51", which may be tomorrow. So we will see. I expect to have the car Jan1.
