X5 Hybrid caught testing in Michigan

One of our members Daniel N recently caught this BMW X5 with a large hood mount testing in Michigan. This car has been speculated by most everyone as being a hybrid version of the X5 with technical monitoring equipment resting under the large hood mount. Most notable about these pictures is that the car is cruising around Michigan so it seems we are in store for some hybrid BMWs on US shores in the near future


Heres what Daniel mentioned about the car:

I’m from Los Angeles and I had to fly out to Michigan just for the day to check out a property 3 weeks ago. I stopped at the Oakland Mall in Detroit and as I was leaving I spotted an X5 with a huge bulge in the hood. Immediately did a U turn and chased and and whipped out the camera. I got a picture of the license plate showings its an Illinois MFR license plate, and a side shot showing the hood. The driver noticed I was taking pictures and chasing it and obviously tried to lose me as he turned onto a street that went to nowhere so I figured I`ll let him go.

Bring us some decent diesels with manual transmissions before bringing hybrid crap with batteries you have to change every 3-4 years.

It's a test mule. as mentioned in the fist post, the buldge is to accomodate testing equipment
