Bootmod3 N55-EWG Version 7.0 is up !

N55-EWG Version 7.0 is up !

Spent some time with an 435i on our dynojet to squeeze out some more power and torque.

Baseline was low on this particular car but increase in percentage was 🔥

Mods are Wagner intercooler and downpipe

Stage 2 93 octane V6.4: 26% HP / 38% TQ
Stage 2 93 octane V7.0: 29% HP / 48% TQ

Stage 2 E30 octane V6.4: 29% HP / 44% TQ
Stage 2 E30 octane V7.0: 33% HP / 56% TQ

Graphs attached are in HP/LBFT and PS/NM - all measurements are done at the wheels!

Version 7.0, January 03, 2020:

Does this update affect other maps (Stage 2 91) or just this specific Stage 2 93 map? Pretty exciting stuff!

This is pretty nuts. Based on my baseline dyno from December 2017 (can't remember which OTS map version) of 311whp/320wtq (on Stage 2 91ocatane with shitty CA gas) I should be at 401whp/474wtq on Stage 2 93octane and 414whp/500wtq....SAY WHAT 500 WHEEL TORQUE!! Not to mention I'm now in a 93 octane state and running WMI. Time to get on the dyno!!

I'm about to right now. I just switched to my winter tire setup which are some el cheapo all-seasons which don't hook nearly as well as my Continental Extreme Contact Sports, which are also much wider so I do have boost be gear reduction in place, 20% for 1st and 10% for the second. 3rd - 6th has full boost. I'll provide a review tomorrow morning.

Just tried the e30 V7.0 map. Getting flat spot at 28-2900rpm or so and would kick right back in.

I'll probably log soon but I want to try the same test drive on the e30 V6.7 first and see if it's does the same thing.

New map does have gains you can feel right away. Definitely an upgrade just need to work the smoothness abit, ill test the V6.7 first before I get a log and send to support.

Update2:

The V6.4 is smoother for me . Did the same testdrive and flat spot at 28-2900 is not there.

I'm still new to BM3 I'm a cobb accessport world datalog kind of guy. I sent a request claim on the website asking if there are parameters they want me to log.

I know it's OTS and won't be perfect but the flat spot in V7 is there around 28-2900 and will be a jolt of kick right after. On the V6.4 the flat spot is not there at 28-2900 but maybe a minimal one around 33-3400 ( again it's an OTS so I'm not looking for perfection).

Plugs are new probably less than 500 miles OEM.

EDIT:

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1374308

Found the above thread via Google University and somewhat intrigued by the manual transmission claims since sounds like the problem I posted on V7 is spot on.

Anybody else had same issues on the new update ?

Update 3:

I drove the v6.4 e30 map this morning. 100% throttle input no break up in 3rd or 4th.

The E30 map just doesn’t seem like a good trade off for worse fuel economy. I think it’s best used for a track day to keep the engine power more consistent and cooler.

I flashed mine with boost reduction in gears 1,5, and 6. I was running 80% in both 1 and 6 and after flashing, there was no power to those three gears. It seems that this update broke that function. Now it's like that slider controls throttle, not boost.

I removed the boost reductions and it fixed the issue. I now see that boost initially spikes to over 20psi and then settles back to 17psi for Stage 2 91 Octane.

Is this a problem? The tune does seems smoother and more powerful.

Flashed Stage 2H E30 7.0 and looks very nice and feels even better! Here’s a 4th and 5th gear log. Max target boost increased to 17.9 PSI from 17.2 and I presume load has been upped over V6.4. Great job Halim and PTF team! Thanks for all of your hard work.

I've been running E30 maps for 2 years and recently went to the stage 2H E30 maps and always average 18.6 to 19 mpg 40/60% highway/city driving. I hand calculate mileage from miles driven per filled gallons.

Update 4:

I went ahead and removed my sparkplugs (500ish miles new) OEM Bosch and regapped them down to .022. I'll reflash the e30 V7 in a bit and try to see if it'll break up in the 28-2900rpm spot like last night.

EDIT:

Gilberto Diaz

Drove a lot better but still a little kink in the Armour mid range around 32-3300 on V7. I did about 5 pulls like last night and the "flat fall of its face 28-2900" is gone. It drives a lot smoother than yesterday.

I didn't log , gonna need to do it tonight too many cars to do a legit real log. I live in the heart of the Bay Area California lol. Freeway is packed.

I am still waiting on PTF for there requirements parameters for datalogging.

I'm confident enough to run this map as is for the weekend and see how it fairs out.

With E30 you are only going to have about 10% less energy density in your fuel than with pump gas, so roughly 10% worse fuel economy, assuming the same driving habits and conditions (all else equal). In CA, 91 pump gas can be about $4 per gallon, and E85 near me is $2.79 per gallon. So, the tradeoff in fuel cost is negligible.

And who cares about fuel economy anyways? Its about smiles per gallon.

Hey PTF, does cat heating off have any detrimental effects on a high flow cat apart from NOX environmental impacts?

My neighbours would certainly prefer that I have it off. I upgraded to 7.0 today and noticed that the default settings (nothing changed in map config) had the cat heating off. I changed it to OEM and reflashed to turn it back on.
