Bent h&r swaybar
Can someone confirm for me that the sway bar is bent and no good?
I have a gap on one side and none on the other. Are they made this way? |

I can't believe that swaybar can be bent so easily especially on a short section like that. You would think it would crack first. I would def. call the manufacturer or try and find another one to compare. GL

It is a used bar. The only thing I can guess, Is a large pothole on a lowered car. I dont know if lowering the car puts more weight on the bar making it more susceptible to damage. I wish a sponsor would take the time to compare the bar . I will buy a new one and post pics in a few days.

As it turns out the bar is normal. I ordered another one to compare and they are exactly the same. Thanks for everyone's help. I had it installed and wow, what a difference. This is the way the car should handle from factory.

Thanks for posting your outcome. I have H & R's on order, which I hope to have within a few weeks. I would have had the same questions about the "bend" that you did. good luck with the new set up!

Glad to hear. It's hard to imagine a pothole or poor installation being capable of bending a bar like that. The bar is not aluminum, and it's designed for rigidity, so bending would not be easy unless it were heated to soften the metal or involved in a major accident.

i was gonna say, aren't sway bars hard to bend? they're really really thick. if they're bent, i think you can see the paint crack too or some stress marks on it.

It's always in your best interest to contact the manufacturer directly with pics or issue's that arise. I know first instinct is to ask here and hope for the right answer but while guys are trying be helpful sometimes you just get tons of misinformation!!

Rather than start a new thread, I figured I'd dig this up as it appears to be the a similar issue.
Photos of a brand new bar can be found attached- appears bent. Thoughts? |
