New X6 xDrive50i Owner!

Hey everyone.

Managed to pick up the first 5.0 in town over the weekend. Black on black with every option. Came from a 650i and was craving 4 doors and a big trunk. This thing is phenomenal! The sound from the exhaust on startup, especially when cold, is fantastic. Really nice roar that I was missing in the 650i.

Any other Canadian owners here? I noticed my car, while equipped with the upgraded sound package, doesn't have the 6 disk media player in the glovebox. It says it's included in the brochure, but then there's no mention of it when you build the car online. Any insight would be appreciated.

Congrats on your new ride and welcome to the forum.

The 2009 model year no longer has the dvd changer option (at least in Canada) since most people seem to prefer a USB based player or storage medium for music anyway.

Also, since the dvd changer does not play movies on the rear entertainment screen, it's basically useless. BMW used to offer either a 6 disc cd changer or a 6 disc dvd changer (also sometimes referred to as multimedia changer). For the 09 MY, BMW has removed the wiring for this option. This also means that you can't retrofit it easily if you wanted/needed to!

I also picked black on black for my X6 50i. I would have been able to pick up my new ride in a few days, however I've since decided to wait until the 09 March production run to get the new iDrive system.

Thanks for the quick response! The reason I asked was because it seemed the 6 disc changer allowed you to watch dvd's on the main screen when the car was stationary. Without the changer, it seems that's not an option.

I guess I can just hop in the back if I'm stuck waiting for someone! Another quick question: is it possible to adjust the volume from the back seat? The remote control adjusts the volume for the headsets but not through the car's speakers.

Welcome and congratulations, as another 50i owner I can tell you this thing is fun to drive. I'm in US and went for upgraded sound which came with the 6 DVD changer, really just wanted the integrated ipod interface but since I had the changer just burned some MP3 DVD to use in it.
