I'll bet it's less than you're paying for 91 in SoCal. And 93 > 91. You won't normally feel a difference, as far as I know. Supposedly the higher octane is better and gives it more pull at the extremes.

Remember, cost of living in NC is far less than Cali...I can find 93 for $2.10 a gallon.

NC move
Hey Doc, been in the Mnt.s of N.C. for about 33 years from Ft Lauderdale. Spent time training at both Ft.Bragg and with the Marines at Camp Lejeune. Stay away from Court Street in Jacksonville, you know every base has one of those streets! The beaches at Ocean Isle and Sunset Beach are great for renting beach houses for the week and are not overcrowded with tourists. The mountains here have drives with great views on the parkway. I'll be glad to help you in any way regarding WNC visits.
Thanks for your service to our great country. 82nd Airborne "All the way"! |

I have not. I'm not to well versed on that stuff. Matter of fact this is my first BMW and turbo car. I'm currently learning as much as I can on the car. Right now focused on the turbo and boost. I have a jb4 but am only getting 5-7 psi of boost. Changed all the vacuum lines, and boost solenoids. just replaced charge pipe with er charge pipe and tial bov last week. Replaced vanos solenoids yesterday. But still only getting 5-7 psi. Have a rb pcv valve coming in tomorrow. So now looking at getting some Vargas oem replacement turbos. I'm under the assumption that my turbos are shot (have 175,000+ miles on the car). No smoke or anything like that. Just lost in all of it and learning as I go. Although this forum has helped me tremendously.
Rogue: thanks I appreciate the offer. Also for the heads up on the street. Yeah I know about those streets.......drugs and hookers. Don't do any of that trash. |

Navy Doc - Can confirm, Asheville is well worth a trip. Food and roads, Biltmore Estate and Beer City USA!! As you are from Cali - I'll say the roads West of Asheville are amazing, simply must be driven. |

Road to Highlands from Franklin NC (Hwy 64) is a great drive with INCREDIBLE waterfalls (Google Dry Falls, Cullasaja Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls) Hwy 209 from Waynesville into Hot Springs is a nice twisty. Hwy 276 from Waynesville into Brevard takes you through the Nantahala National Forest and is a great drive (Google Looking Glass Falls). The Blue Ridge parkway is spectacular in the fall, views and colors - speed is limited to 45 MPH though Heres a pic of the Linn Cove Viaduct I shot some years back... |

I miss the rocket sometimes. Hitting the twisties and dragging knees. It's a rush. Although after the track the twisties lost there appeal. Balls out on the track without the concern of other motorist crossing the double yellow and taking you out has its certain appeal. Plus you can go as fast as your equipment and skill will allow you.
