Wish they would stop wasting time on Sam & Gilly! They need to shorten or fast track that whole situation. They used up alot of time in the episode.

Agree - that was just awkward. The only thing that I think was meaningful was the taking of the family sword... which I assume is Valyrian steel (dragon steel), and can kill white walkers.

Although there were no "are you f'n kidding me" moments in this episode, the biggest thing is one unspoken. We now have armies building/built on all sides and we will see the cycle of more true "games of thrones" with massive wars happening as winter sets in. I feel they've returned to their roots of season 1 and 2 in this episode, through 2+ seasons of setup.

Larryn summed it up nicely. Felt like a lot crammed into this episode thus watering it down a bit. Hopefully that is not a sign of things to come.

There was a hint of what might come up for Cersei. Almost in passing, she mentioned trial by combat and her having the mountain. Hopefully, it is not as abrupt and anti-climatic as his last (literally in 2 senses of the word) fight.

Hopefully, Coldhands becomes an integral character (in a good way).

Arya will get her shot at putting the girl from the faceless men (I forgot her name) in check; assuming she sees her coming. Sounds like she'll be in kill mode but I'm guessing she'll be stubborn enough to want Arya to know it's her.

It is Valyrian steel. Sam's dad says it is when he talked about the sword during the dinner rant.

The joining of the crown and the faith was a blindside for me, I was expecting a pretty big battle when the Faith Militant marched Margaery out on the steps.

I also think the return of Benjen and the confirmation that Benjen Stark = Coldhands and the revelation of how he came to be was a pretty big deal. That loop hasn't been closed in the books.

Arya abandoning the faceless god so soon was an interesting twist to me, I think she still had a lot to learn there.

Sounds like some of you guys just want constant action. As mentioned by a few others, there were several interesting story-line progressions, especially for those of us who have read the books.

Benjen storyline was introduced much earlier in the books - but his identify lingered for a while until revealed.

No way the show could condense this on screen the way Martin writes.

Will be interesting where the writers take the show from here, and how this is all wrapped into a finale.

I was fine with the other episodes that were slow. The last one disappointed me because they built it up so much. I thought they were going to kill off the High Sparrow and then nothing...

I will say I feel like they spent a little too much time on the Sam/Gilly arc with this past episode, but it was an important piece of the story, they hadn't spent much time on them at all lately, and I'm willing to bet we don't see significantly more of it soon, so I'm ok with it.

Naw, you're mixed up.

Needle was castle-forged by Mikken at Winterfell by John's command as a parting gift for Arya before she left for King's Landing with Ned.

Ned's sword (Ice) was melted down and re-forged into 2 swords by a blacksmith from Volantis at the request of Tywin Lannister after Ned had been executed. One was given to Jaime , which is the sword that Brienne is now carrying (named "Oathkeeper"), the other was given to Joffrey (named "Widow's Wail")... not sure what happened to it after that.

I can NOT believe HBO, GofT, the Writers and anyone involved, saw fit to literally waste 20min on this BISCUIT BOY!

Lots of stuff happening now and overall a good episode. Hopefully, we're not witnessing a watering down of the show by having this many episodes cram in so much per episode.
