Any way to get chains on m-sport wheels? Aack!
I'm hoping anyone might know a way to get snow-chains for the 20" M-Sport wheels. My good friend has found himself going up for a few weeks in the X5 in a city where the local authorities require chains - but BMW doesn't sell chains for these wheels.
The idea of buying new wheels for a few weeks use seems a little crazy. Any and all ideas or possible solutions *MUCH* appreciated!! I live in the desert and don't know much anything snow driving prep. - we consider 60f cold out here. Thanks, _Scott |

Where is he going? Why are they requiring snow chains? A good set of snow tires should be adequate, especially with an X5. Unless they require chains if you keep your summer tires.

It's a ski area near Lake Arrowhead in California. The locals said that the police do "chain checks" to make sure you have them in the car at select checkpoints - and then at later checkpoints make sure they are installed.

In Tahoe, there are very few times 4x4's are required to chain up. However, the caviet is to make sure your tires are M&S rated. Any time 4x4's are required to chain in Tahoe, you might as well stay in by the fireplace and break out the brandy and relax.

I doubt the tires on those rims will be all-seasons. If they are dedicated summer tires, you would be better off staying home.
Any chains that would fit on the 20's wheels will rip into the fenders due to the width.
