what roof rails and base support?

I have a 2009 4.8i and bought a used base support system off ebay for a 2006 to 2012 x5, part 82710405052 however the rack wont install. I called the dealer who said these racks wont fit my rails, there are different rails, black matt, black gloss and aluminium and the fit is different. Is this true?

after some digging found this part fits M series and low profile rails.Have them on Craigslist for $160 now.
