Will BMW change the Body Style for 2012/2013? Should I wait?

I’m looking to buy my dream car, the BMW X5 Deep Sea Blue, but I been watching forums and spy pics very carefully as BMW may come out with a new X5 model for next year.

Let’s talk about X5 history…
In 2006 BMW released a new 3 series, like they are doing right now (today, October 14, 2011), less than a year they released a new X5 which is our current model, in 2011 they changed the engine to 3.5i turbo and they did some very small changes on the looks.

The current X5 still looking sharp, but I don’t want to expend 50K on a car that will be outdate next year.
Lets agree, on every new model that BMW introduces comes with a smaller engine, same or better performance than the previous model, better gas mileage, and less weigh, and on the X5 case the car seems way too heavy. Plus, the current instruments are outdated compared to the 2011 X3 & 5 Series.

I would make sense for BMW to introduce a new re-design model next year.

I do consider the new X3, but the front of the car is not as rounded as the X5, plus the X3 does not offer that MAN looks that the X5 has.

Last gen 3 series came out in 2005 with the MY2006 E90 sedan. The current X5 model, the E70, was put out in 2007and only an LCI was done for MY2011 not a new model. Also, the new X5 won't be coming next year, not until the year after that as a MY2014. Finally, smaller motors? recently yes, but not always (M3 V8, 330 to 335, 35d going to 40d eventually) and the regarding weight the trend has typically been more weight, not less, see new 5 series, current gen X5, new X3 is slightly heavier IIRC, although the new F30 is claimed to be 80-100lbs less than the previous E90......cheers.

Overall, bad info or not, I say get what you like and try not looking too far into the future, as you can keep doing that indefinitely and never really be truly happy. Live in the present and enjoy what you have (or, to keep it relevant, enjoy what you can get right now). Life's too short and there will ALWAYS be something newer, better, faster just out of sight around the corner.

Better wait... 1 year is right around the corner, plus, that are too many things that BMW needs to fix on the X5 in order to get the car 100%, checkout the forum "Things you dislike about your E70 X5?", all real owner reviews.

Look the new 2011 X3 & just released the 3 series it looks excellent, great gas mileage, a brand new dash board, it is definitely worth the wait.

Based on the way BMW is going with cars like the 3 Series, I would definitely get one now
