Just moved from a 2011 e92 320d mSport manual to a 420d mSport sport auto. Had the e92 for 3 years and 39000 miles and when we parted company (sob ) the lifetime mpg was just over 54mpg. Only had the 4er for 6 weeks and so far on the 2000 miles on it mpg is at 52.5. I was hoping for a little better I suppose, but we'll see.

We managed 506 miles on a tank on our (gasoline) F31 Msport Sportwagon. Eco Pro and cruise control baby! That was with an hour of stopped traffic in Pennsylvania, too.

I pick up my F30 tomorrow morning so I'll be sure to put it to the test.

I turned off the mpg display because I was getting pissed off. Now I'm much happier. FYI I was getting around 18 mpg I think.

Damn thats nice!
I have the same setup and am currently getting 21.
Is there any truth to it getting better over time?

Granted, I work about 4 miles away and there are about 10 traffic lights which always seem to be red, so I always seem to be accelerating which doesnt help.

After 5,000 miles in my 328.

60% highway, 40% city

I'm getting:
26mpg in mixed (comfort/sport)
27mpg in pure Comfort mode
29mpg in pure EcoPro (AS/S off)

I haven't used a full tank of gas in pure Sport mode yet.

My fuel consumption is getting worse. It now has 13k.

Although admittedly I have been driving it much harder.

328i, getting 580km full tank now whereas when new I was getting about 700km

9.5L/100km or 25mpg with 3000km on the car.

70% Highway 30% City

During initial acceleration, the L/100km gage pegs to the full right (max consumption).

In the end the car has the same economy as my dad's 2004 4 cyl engine. I just thought it would be closer to what BMW claims that it would be.

It does get somewhat better after several thousand miles, but the key difference here is that I don't have to commute to work every day (I work from home). If you have your iDrive screen set to display the "immediate" average miles per gallon, you can watch it tick downwards while you're idling at a light. For you, using ASS might help. The other thing is light throttle application - just drive smoothly and avoid WOT unless you absolutely need "full military power". Even when passing out on the highway, there's more than enough torque to get by someone quickly with just a light increase of throttle. I drive mostly in comfort mode, although I have noticed there's not a lot of difference in mileage around town in Sport mode - but on the highway, Sport won't go into 8th gear (2nd overdrive) unless you move the lever over to "manual" and shift it manually. Of course, if you're on a long trip on the highway, Sport really is superfluous (unless the highway has lots of curves!).

335i 8AT:

22.5 miles per gallon according to my car after about 10,500 miles. I have a 70/30 split of city vs highway miles. Most of the time the car is in Comfort mode, but I switch into EcoPro and use cruise control once I'm up to speed on the highway.

I never use A.S.S.

Just did a 700 mile drive, and another 700 to go. Car averaged 32.7 or 32.8 MPG. Drove in a combination of eco and comfort, with speeds ranging from 75-85. Car does have a BMS Tune, and I do like getting on it occasionally.

Happy with the numbers. I figure I could get 33.5 or 34 with a bit more granny driving and without the tune.

21-25 mpg city driving (EcoPro and Sport)
30 mpg Highway (Sport)
30-36 mpg Highway (EcoPro)

On the highway I have no problem achieving 30mpg in Sport mode. In EcoPro I can achieve 36 mpg. Of course if I go in Sport or Sport+ and stomp on the gas my fuel economy will go way down.

I'm very happy so far, about 50/50 hwy city driving I'm averaging 22.7 mpg, my 2011 g37xs was around 19.5mpg

Had a 100 mile trip recently, averaged 29.9 with a mix of Eco and sport mode, a couple strong pulls and averaging 75mph

I remember when my then new 2004 325i would get 27-28mpg on that same 100 mile trip

My vignette: 29.8 MPG, 350 mile round trip Wiesbaden to Stuttgart, with city driving in between; avg speed 65.1 MPH but with instances of 120 MPH, and stop-n-go stau driving as well. Alternated between sport, comfort, and eco pro, but no auto off used in the city.

I wouldn't say I'm disappointed, but I'm not impressed. I average 28-29mpg on my 320i. I drive 90% hwy and 10% street. So I don't see why I can't hit 30 or more like advertised.

I must have fluffy slippers on my right foot. I average 8L/100km in my 335i Touring, which exceeds my expectations compared to a N/A 2.5L Subaru Legacy previously, which averaged 8.8L/100km.

I get 600km or 370 miles before the first low fuel indicator chimes in.

2013 328xi-Im getting 28 in 50/50 highway/city. But pure highway driving at 75 mph I routinely get 38-40. I'm in Denver at altitude and always use 91 AKI fuel.
