X5 M Sport with running boards
Hi chaps, I have just placed an order for my first X5 and opted for the M Sport version. I am just concerned about the "road rash" that has been discussed in many other threads. Mudflaps are an option but they look horendous on the M Sport. The only other option is a set of running boards.
I know not everyone likes them (for various reasons) but I quite like the look. My concern is just whether the running boards and the slightly wider wheel arch flares of the M Sport will meet up properly and the ends? Has anyone done something like this that can comment and perhaps post some pics, peferably on a light coloured verhicle (white/silver etc) so I can see what it looks like? Thanks |

Search skalberti for my posts. I think the two problems that cause the stone chips is 1. Wide tires 2. Sticky summer tires that grab everything and throw it up. When I took deliver of mine. I sold the summer tires that came on it to the parts dept. I then bought a set of toyo proxes STII all season tires. Look for my posts on those as well. I also put 12mm 3M film over the complete fender flares front and rear, the running boards, from the door strip down on each door, and the rear quarter panel behind rear tires. I also did the full nose with 8mm film. After several thousand miles, no chips what so ever, and the film is shiny and looks brand new.
