2011 X6 xdrive50i help

I'm about to purchase and X6 and i have a question about the 50i.

1) I know the 35i n54 engine has the HPFP. Any known issues with the N63 ?

2) Is the 2011 n63 single turbo or twin turbo ?

3) is the xdrive50i a good engine?

4) Given the xdrive35i and xdrive50i is the same price, which will you pick ?

5) Anything to look up for ?

6) THe n63 engine is the same from 2008-2012. Is this right ?

I'll answer what I know or have heard.
1. None that I'm aware of (well it does like gas)
2. Twin - and they are down in the V of the engine (the intake and exhaust manifolds are reversed compared to a normal V8). Very cool.
3. I like it
4. The V8 - mostly for the sound. Amazing. The 6 is just fine in terms of performance, it just doesn't sound like the 8. My caveat here would be the year. The 2008/2009 X6s had the old iDrive so the rear camera looks and works terrible. Based on this alone, I would go with a 2010 or newer (so comparing a 2009 50i to a 2010 35i, I would go with the 35i, cool exhaust sound be dammed).
5. Not that I am aware of (check that, there was a coolant pump issue - was a recall)
6. I think so...

^ agree with those points, get the x50 if you can!
The x35 is capable enough but the x50 is a TTV8 - NUFF SAID!

I own a 2011 X6 xDrive35i (Sport Package) and a 2013 X6 xDrive50i (M Perf Package).

Both are great engines. The 35i has plenty of zip at all RPM's and if you clamp open the second exhaust (one exhaust is tuned, but only opens at high RPM) it sounds nearly as good as the 50i.

You really can't go wrong with either.

You may let the options help sway you if one is better equipped. I'd highly recommend the Sport or M Package if either has them. The 20" rims look outstanding and the 315 width on the rears give it a very aggressive stance.

The tech package is also great, once you have HUD it'd be hard to go back.

You definitely have "rich man problems" as there's not a bad choice in front of you! ;-)

Thank you all for your response ! I think i'll go with the 50i. Both of them have sports package, adaptive drive etc. I was looking for HUD but they are RARE !!!


A) Do you guys feel any lag on the N63 engine ?

B) I actually want alpine white, but they are so rare to get with all the options i want. The 50i im looking at is a Space Gray.

Any opinions on the SG color ?

a) Unfortunately there is some lag. It comes on at weird times. With the M they have reduced this by piping the turbos with offsetting cylinder banks (more cool stuff). But from a stop, there is none - I think I notice it when you give it gas at say 20mph and it is not ready for you.

b) Nothing wrong with Space Gray except that it is like the 2nd most popular color (next to sapphire black). Try and find the white - it really stands out. Of note, the Vermilion red is the fastest color.
