To get you guys blood flowing: WTF is up with BMW prices?...
You see, I went today looking at what I should get for my next ride. I like the next M4, but it isn't here yet. I love my sauced up 335i, best car I ever had just because it was made to my exact tastes then cooked up a few notches to the point I am for the first time in my driving history in a car I never feel like I want more. So why sell it? Well, I am not quite sure I want to pat with it, but I thought maybe its time to move on. But I want something I can leave stock this time around.
Enter 640i Gran Coupe... Wow!!! As in gooood! But WTF the price is 98K nicely equiped. And that N55 isn't juicy enough. After being used to my 335i, only a 650i perhaps would do, but I didn't bother look as I know it would cost more. M6 -- Loong shot as in "when I grow up.." But what if it cost near the 98K all told? I'd be willing to entartain that. They have a blue M6 Convertible on the floor. Went to look at MSRP... Yeiks!!! 126K. Seriously, that one goes straight to bucketlist as last thing before I check out. Ahhh X6 would be nice no? I thought well its realkly an SUV, I probably could live with the performance.. So lets go for a test drive..... result? I guess am either buying another car (not a BMW to hold me over, or just keep my 335, or just better still spring for 2013 Toyota RAV4 to replace my current one, keep the 335 and be happy with that. ) What happened. Nice SAV, beautiful infact but I just felt a little deflated afterwards... so I was searching for reviews and came upon one poignant one. I don't know honestly, maybe am just a car guy and wont be satisfied with just an SAV instead of having and SUV and car. Price is ok, but it didn't tag at me the way I expected. It looked better standing still, than when I drove it I guess. Can't explain, but maybe these guys put a finger on it? Got give it to this guy he is good. Now enjoy! http://youtu.be/5UwOBKSHl-c

I guess buy a Merc or Audi?
However, i'd keep 335i - it's the best car in the world, right? I sold mine with a big regret (insert a lot of sarcasm here) P.S. M3 / 550i / 650i ? |

Sounds like that Rav4 would be perfect for you.

Had the same setup you have (only for 8 months or so), and decided to replace both with an X1 (too small), then an X5.
Wanted an X6 but wanted also the diesel, not available here. A RAV4 isn't the nicest SUV out there, if you feel only 1 vehicule can't suits your needs, altough the V6 has it's shares of fun, that SUV's too fragile, interior and exterior wise. I miss the dynamic of my 335i, but it's fading out now... I don't know what you're talking about. (4 HPP, 2 turbos, etc, etc, etc.)

Anyone regret the X6 decision even once? Why? I have regretted the 335i, even hated it on occasions when it would trouble me to swearing off any BMW in future, but its just addicting when it works. So much so I sometimes feel silly for liking it.

My husband did--for a while--he's kept me in 3 Lexus LS for over a decade; and when we had our first baby I decided that I wanted the X6 as my mommymobile... we got a2009 X6 50i brand new for me. He liked the car/performance; but as far as value he felt it was way overpriced for the machinery (we had to make QUITE a few trips to service for sundry little problems and of course to change out the run flats everytime I get a nail in it) However, his feelings for this overpriced piece of metal changed when I managed to walk away from an accident last October where an idiot ran a redlight @ 50mph and crashed into me.. The car withstood the impact so well--my airbags didn't even deploy and I only got a sore shoulder from the jolt of impact; whereas all the airbags in the lady's brand new Toyota had deployed. |

You have a point there. We do often forget the most important things. Glad you were alright. Yeah RAV4 woulda spun like a turbine. The 335 might take the impact close to as well. I have seen a few wrecked ones and they do impress. BMW > Toyota any-day in a wreck.

Years back my brother had a 328i that was wrecked in a collision with a utility/contractor van--although his little 3 series was totaled the police/EMS people who arrived at the scene were amazed that my brother didn't have one single scratch on him from the accident-- bruises, yes.. But that was the extent of his injuries.

I agree...
The 640/650 GC is a beautiful car. But wow, EXPENSIVE. It got me to price out a S6/S7 and WOW - we are looking at $20K less! I'm not sure how well the GC will sell - but if they make an M version (especially if AWD) then I just might have to consider it since it is so damn good looking (albeit used).
The X6 does not do it for me either from a driving perspective. The 335 is so dramatically different in terms of driving dynamics. The fact is, it is hard to make a tall 5,200lb truck drive like a car. BMW does a great job trying but physics get in the way Still, on a snowy/rainy day and/or a long drive with the family* I do enjoy the X6 for its room and highway manners. *I have the comfort seats and can last exactly 3 hours before I MUST GET OUT OF THE X6 NOW OR MY LEGS WILL FALL OFF. Very strange - just hits right at that point. and yes, this is a mature crowd. Love it here.

I went from 335i to X6M
While X6 is not a car, i have yet to regret my decision I definitely love this upgrade While 335i was worry free i dont miss it It felt a bit more nimble, but M takes any any task with lesser effort There is also a lot more predictability with X6. I know exactly when it could start drifting or exactly predict the path Control is just so much greater Yes, it's heavy and it's bigger, but driving this thing in manual mode all the time is very rewarding |

Also seriously considered the 650GC with XDrive; but for the price of it after I've tacked on all the options I want, I'd be better off with an Aston Martin Rapide--THAT's a head turner!
