rear bumpers: v8 vs 35d

Hey guys,

I'm looking to add quad tips to my exhaust on my 35d. So i think ill need to locate a v8 rear bumper so the tips fit in them.

Has anyone trimmed around the bumper where the exhaust tips are to make larger tips fit? or quads?

i attached a photo that i took from the facebook group regarding exhaust tips that i want on my 35d.

The second photo is my factory exhaust and rear bumper.

I want to add quad tips to mine as well. I have a 35i M-Sport so my bumper is different than yours.

From the little bit of research I’ve done, it seems the exhaust cutout for the V8 cars is bigger. Another member here was able to fit 3.5” dual tips on each side with no problem.

On my bumper, after measuring a few times, it seems 3” duals is about as big as I can go without cutting the bumper. Eisenmann makes a quad setup using dual tips that are ~3.15” but I haven’t found universal tips that size.

On your car, you are either going to have to cut the exhaust opening or swap the bumper most likely. I believe that would require changing out rear fender panels as well but haven’t looked it up on RealOEM yet

You can fit dual 3.5" tips on the 50i bumper, this pretty much maxes it out as you can see in the pics of mine below.

You could just cut your stock bumper too, a sawzall will make short order of it. I had to cut the backside of my bumper to make room for the actuators for the exhaust cutouts and a 40 dollar sawzall from harbor freight cuts through it like butter, I am sure your bumper is the same material.

Use a fine-tooth metal cutting blade so you can make nice smooth cuts, Then sand it down and contour the cut a bit and touch it up with some factory matched paint. With the tips in it, you wont be able to tell it was cut.

Love the dual look. Where did you buy those dual exhaust tips? I have a 2013x5 diesel; will these work the same or will I need to try a different option?

Thanks! You can find them on both eBay and Amazon, do a search for carbon fiber exhaust tips. Mine are individual tips as the two inner tips are for the muffler, the two outer tips are for the muffler bypass cutouts when their activated. You can get the same tips and build your own y-pipe to connect to factory muffler or I believe they sell them with a y-pipe attached.
