Check Engine Light After Valve Cover/Crankcase Vent Hose Replacement

Hello,

I just replaced my valve cover and crankcase vent hose on my 2013 E70 N55. All connections are back in place and seated correctly, now the check engine light is now on and I get the following code from my Foxwell NT510 OBD reader,

2FE2/Present
Crankcase Ventilation Heating, Activation Line Disconnection

I am unable to find any explanation of this code anywhere online or on newtis but I am guessing a faulty new crankcase vent hose. I am hoping someone has experience with this scenario or can suggest a way to test the new crankcase vent hose to be sure it is not faulty.

Did you replace the entire valve cover or just the gasket? The PCV is incorporated into the cover and could of failed after the repair. I would also check the connections and do a smoke test if it's not something simple. I'm assuming you have a good seal with the gasket.

I replaced the Valve cover with gaskets and the crankcase vent hose.

if it was okay before you did something well you did something 1.check all pipelines 2.do the smoke test

The flexible crack case vent hose is prone to cracking and breaking. I'd suspect that is the one causing the issue. I broke it while doing spark plugs and BMW told me that they always replace it when they're in there when I was picking up the part. Best of luck tracking down the problem.

Here is my final result for the problem with a crankcase vent hose 11127584128 to share in case anyone comes across this OBD 2FE2 code using a Foxwell NT510 reader as I did and unable to find anything about the code on the internet.

Using a Foxwell NT510 the new defective part resulted in a Check Engine light with an OBD code 2FE2- "Crankcase ventilation heating, activation line disconnection". This part not working triggered a second OBD code 2BC0- "Mixture control Fuel-air mixture too lean". I tested the new (defective) part with an ohm meter which read it at 0 and compared it against the old cracked part that tested around 5ohm. I Purchased a second new part choosing OEM from a different seller, fcpeuro.com. Before installing ohm tested it at 5 ohm and after installing the check engine light is off and all codes gone.

I hate testing parts for sellers. I am not going to shame the original seller but it was 35 bucks with free delivery on Amazon. The OEM part at fcpeuro.com was 52 bucks plus shipping. See what I get for saving a little McDonalds money?

Randrews15, agreed this part was so brittle I think soon it would have snapped while sitting in place and triggered the 2BC0 code. IMO this is not an expensive part or difficult to replace and should be instructed mandatory replacement at the same time as the valve cover seal and valvetronic actuator seal.
