Buying a car on a rainy day at the end of the month does wonders for dealing. |

Got an update from the dealer. It is a week 50 production date.
So hopefully we'll get it before the end of the Dec! |

I wonder if I should go ahead and negotiate a deal on my X5 before it gets here on 12/10? Would probably be easier to deal without the car sitting there on the lot in the dealer's corner... |

A decent deal is Invoice + $500 +Maco/training + delivery - any credits, holiday cash eco credit etc. Anything less than that is really good, west coast guys seem to be more like invoice + 1000, but most of us on the east coast can get invoice + 500.

RKB has the deal right. You should understand what credits you will qualify for in advance and leave them out of the negotiation until the very end. |

35i sport Space Gray Black perf leather Bamboo Active ventilated seats Multicontour seats Premium hifi Sat. radio Tech Convenience Comfort access Heated front seats Running boards Space saver spare Smartphone int. I've bought another car from this sales manager, and my parents have bought a couple recently as well, so I've got a good relationship with him. I mentioned the $2500 holiday cash and he kinda poopoo'ed it, saying he wasn't sure if that was actual $2500 off the negotiated price of the car. I told him BS. I think he'll work with me a little, but I'm going to have to drop the hammer tomorrow. I'm going to be trading in an '07 Yukon that is worth a bit more than payoff, so they shouldn't be able to use that to charge more for the X5; I won't be mentioning trade-in until I've negotiated a price on the car I can live with. I could tell him that I might have to go with an '11 Yukon due to the lower price unless he can come down to a good number. Any add'l advice you can give between now and tomorrow afternoon would be greatly appreciated, guys! I'm a good negotiator but have never been at this level of car before. Oh, and sorry for hijacking this thread! |

I think the invoice price on my car will be $61,465, so it seems to me I should negotiate a sales price of around $62,000. Then have them take the $2500 holiday discount off and add training and destination charges to it for a total of $60,575 out the door.
Thoughts? |

Gotcha; thanks for the tip. I wonder if I could come to an agreement on vehicle price and then get them to throw in the titanium grilles, roof rack base support rails and roof luggage rack to get the deal done. I'm going to go negotiate this afternoon.

I don't think they'll "throw" in roof racks if you didn't order it with it. I believe it's ~$1k to retrofit the $100 factory option.

My CA just told me today he thinks the Holiday credit will not be applicable!! HAHA... what a joker he is! He said the rates for my lease were locked in for Oct rates and that when the Holiday credit came out , the MF rates and the depreciation changed?? I told him that was funny, as I ordered my car in NOVEMBER! like the same day the credit was announced! Anyone have MF and DEP rates for cars ordered in NOV with the holiday credit and eco credit? 2011 x5 3.5D Thanks!

OK, I sat down to negotiate with my sales rep before lunch and basically told him the deal's off and to cancel the car unless he can do better (much better).
He offered the $2500 holiday credit and no other discounts whatsoever. I told him that I know what X5's are selling for over invoice across the country and that he's going to have to do a lot better to sell me a car. He said that X5's are sought after in Mississippi and that they don't get discounted here; he's got three on the lot he's had for a couple of months. I told him that I know better and said he's going to have to sharpen his pencil if we're going to make a deal. From what I've read on this forum, I shouldn't pay any more than $1k over invoice plus MACO/training fees, destination charge, tax/tag/title. Any advice on how to squeeze him from this point on? Or should I just give him my number and hold firm until he gives? |

So what are the numbers that he came back with prior to all incentives?

The OP posted a great deal, but it is not a done deal until the papers are signed and he drives off. I bet they made a mistake or two with all the discounts and some will come off for sure. Also the ECO credit expires Dec 31. Unless you get it in writing, no orders received after Dec 31 will be eligible for the credit.
