I would go with black roof rails on any color car. Any attachments you add will be black.
However, I am not sure roof rails would look good on an X6. I have not seen enough clear pics with installed. I am still waiting word on the bike/hitch option.

Chuck, I am still waiting on the hitch/bike mount info as well. I am going to go to my dealer this week and talk to parts department and figure out what the options are for this. |

Let the X6 be a sports car, do NOT put on this truck rails. They just kill the nice roof line.
Be cool, stay away from it! ; ) Last edited by E91-Norway; 06-15-2008 at 11:02 AM.. |

Just got back from the dealer and picked up an accessories catalog. The hitch costs $500. There is actually a Rear-Mounted Bike Carrier that looks nice that still allows the tow hitch and open the tailgate for $500. The hitch mounted Swing-Away Bike Carrier (4 bikes) is $425.

Oddly, they are not listed in the accessories catalog. They must be a special order part from the parts department. I did not ask while I was there because I do not have any interest in them

Actually if you are referring to the chrome trim around the windows then I will not be able to get that. I actually really want that option but the sport package (at least in the US) deletes the chrome trim around windows and adds the black shadowline trim. All of the pictures that I keep seeing of the 50i all have the chrome trim and I like but my dealer can't figure out how I can get it.

Personally, I prefer to have as little chrome as possible on my cars. I'm glad that the high-gloss shadow line on my order removed all chrome around the windows...

My dealer told me that I can request either an addition or deletion of any kind of optional item that is available for a particular model. Basically the way this works is that your dealer has to email BMW in Germany and ask if it is doable. Assuming you request this before or during the time your car is being build, and they can accommodate your request, you will have to pay for the cost of the optional item or change request along with a custom order fee.
I am looking into adding a few extra features to my fully loaded X6 xDrive50i. I found out that the German version of the X6 has a couple of options that are not listed in the US or Canadian X6 brochure.
