2013 Midnight Blue X6

This is a wonderful color that is hard to capture its true color on camera and too often photographs almost black. In person the color can look anywhere from cerulean blue, teal to dark blue or even dark green. Some of these photos are at the Performance Delivery Center, Spartanburg SC. Some at home and in the Garage next to the 335is.

Actually, When I initially ordered on March 1, BMW was still on 2012's and I had asked for a Monaco Blue. I am really very happy that I had to switch to this color because it was a replacement for the Monaco!

I just ordered this car may 21st in the same color!! SOOOOOOO GLAD I DID!! Midnight Blue has to be the BEST metallic color exclusively made for the X6 IMO. CONGRATS! My car finishes production TOMORROW!! It should be in my driveway by the 20th.. A month wait, BMW has really up'd their game. BTW theres only 8 BMW X6's so far being produced/has been produced so far in the USA. 8 including mines!

I hope you don't mind a couple questions about Midnight Blue -- I love this color, but will probably have to order it without seeing it in person. Your photos are great, yet some don't even look like the same color.

1. Some photos of this color (not your photos in particular) have a purplish tinge -- which I don't like nearly as much as the teal-blue color. Does Midnight Blue display a distinct purple sometimes, or is this just the photos?

2. As you say, sometimes this color photographs almost black. Does it look this dark in real life, or is it again just the photos?

No Purple. I personally do not see any purple in it. However, You are not the first to think they saw purple, but I do not and it is not distinct if at all.

It is not as dark as the darker photographs. Even in low light, when you get close to the car the lighter metalic flake and the shine still come out and it is a little less confusing.

In person the color ranges from Forrest Green to Midnight Blue in low light, to a very Vibrant Teal Green in bright light. It is not a light teal car as in some of the promotional images. In full sun the brightest colors are highlighted as the light changes angles when you move around the car. I have just never seen a color that alive before. There are two of my pictures where you can really see that. In front of my garage, I took one shot at an angle to get the most light on the paint possible and the very next shot it looks like a whole other color. (you can see the wet driveway where I had just washed it in those two pictures). It is dark enough that it shows dirt. This is not silver.

It's great. I also took a leap of faith on the color. I am glad I did. It is what I wanted it to look like.

On a wonderful vehicle that detractors have a hard time defining the body style, (I have gotten one "What is that? Is it supposed to be an SUV?") I also like having a color that is beyond one definition. This does that.

Did you mean that only 8 midnight blues have been produced for the US? I can believe that. I was the first to pick one up at the PCD program and even the factory tour guide was not familiar with it!

Well... actually as of now, there are 14 midnight blue 35i (13 are customer order) and 20 50i (13 are customer ordered) in the pipeline now.

Still an amazing color and low production (a bigger plus to me). Not as nice as Vermilion of course, but still

Very nice. Congrats. Would like to update to a 50i maybe with the M-Sport and white multi-contours with active steering in a couple of years myself. Hope that my new baby holds its value for that upgrade! I am loving my HUD much more than I thought I would.

It really is an amazing color. It seems "alive" because of it's constant changes depending on angles and lighting. Enjoy the new ride!

My Production is complete (per the 800 number)... Midnight Blue and Saddle.. not sure that anyone else has that combo? I just went with the color I liked best on the inside and the color I liked best on the outside!
Won't be back in the country until the 28th... maybe it will be ready by then. I am most excited to see how the silver trim look w/ the color and the base rims. That's also a leap of faith! If any one has the color combo or the base 50i rims, I would love to see it!

Well the info posted to MyBMW and the stealership did not get the Sports Activity Package removed as promised so the wife is going to end up with wheels she does not like, an Anthracite headliner again she does not like but Shadowline trim she can live with. Its going to be an interesting meeting at the dealers tomorrow
