Aftermarket headlights on E70
Has anyone had anything close to this experience or heard anything about the aftermarket headlights on E70 X5? I have taken my X5 to a BMW of SF dealership for a small issue, where my "locating lights" are not working. Basically FRM-2 module puts out a short-circuit fault and none of the buttons are lighting at night. Well, my service rep at the dealership had informed me that my headlights are not original, that they are aftermarket and that is what's causing the fault and they cannot clear it unless they install original headlights. Has anyone heard anything like this before? Are there aftermarket headlights out there? They look just like the original lights to me :-). Also, is it possible for issue in head lights to be anywhere related to the issue of non-functional "locating lights" (which are interior lights) ? Thanks in advance for all your comments ...

Look under the hood. There should be a decal on the lighting unit that is easily visible.

Nope. But I never really looked for them.

Could be that your vehicle had front end damage and the body shop used non-oem parts.

Has anyone seen or heard of non-oem, aftermarket headlights for E70? Are they identical to the oem? Has anyone heard of any issues with these aftermarket headlights? Are they functionally the same as the oem? Same electronics, control module?
