As of now the new injectors have given me even worse mpg, black soot all over the back of the truck, 2 black soot marks on my garage wall...i give up lol

Are you guys driving in M mode or wife mode?
I usually drive in Sport mode, (move shifter to the left). After the tune, M mode is not too exciting, except for launch control. The truck pulls everywhere.

Have you spoke to your s/a about your mpg? Its way off, there must be some explanation.

I was getting about 11 until my injectors were replaced, and it bumped up to 13-14.

It's the nature of a 5000 lb beast. Even my D gets 16 in pure city driving here in SF due to the hills. This week, my wife managed a whopping 13 in the city. In flat city I get 19 as advertised.

I get great numbers on the flip side tho.

We do majority of our driving around town (no commute for either of us, no long trips) and my wife gets about 14mpg around town... That's in full wife mode. She says she gets on it sometimes, but I can't believe it...

I get around 11mpg around town, I typically drive it in sport trans mode, but not M mode...

My truck is running very rich since the new injectors, it's hard to explain the amount of soot that's covering the entire back of the truck/bumper w/o pics, i'll try to take some when i get a chance.

I have to give my SA a call this week to see if i can drop it off...mpg shouldn't have gotten worse after new injectors...i was just curious if anyone else is getting worse mpg since replacing their injectors

I decided to restart my MPG gauge and to not drive around in M mode and that made all the difference in the world. I went from 9 mpg to 14.3 mpg. I guess M mode is a little more serious then I had originally thought.

Not sure if you guys use any apps that help you track the gas consumption plus other car related stuff, I've been using GasTracker+ for a long time and it's especially useful for me as I was able to capture everything from day one when I got my car. Give it a try, u'll like it!

Also it's seems to be very accurate!

How does it determine city or highway split?

that's u own estimation, it's a stand alone app, not connected to u car via anything, the consumption determined by mileage-filling up
There is also a web site u can use with that app u can track multiple vehicles as well

Since owning the truck i have never drove it in wife mode...on my way to work this morning i decided to give it a try and managed over 17mpg! nearly went off the road trying to take a pic on the exit ramp lol

On my way home i drove the truck in beast mode...the way it was meant to be driven, balls to the wall!...this is my typical mpg i get daily.

well looks like i got an answer to my ? In hindsight the mpg I have been getting are directly related to my need to drive in M mode 100% of the time and I would"t have it any other way.

I agree with you 100% brother, we spend lots of money on mods to increase the performance of these trucks...if i wanted to get 17+ mpg i would of bought another 328

My 50i is all city driving - I still get the quoted 14. 9 seems quite low for a 50i.
I live in NYC. Traffic is brutal.

LOL
Mystery solved!! Learn something new every day dont'cha!

BTW I'll throw some numbers in.... from my 50i.
Normal city driving with moderate fun nets my between 11-12.

I took my first long highway trip in a while this weekend. With cruise set to ~74 I just got into the 23 mpg range.
Same trip on the return I kept it more like 77mph and got 22.1 or so.
I know from prev experience, a long trip avg'ing ~80 netted me 21mpg.

Wonder how high I could get if I cruised at 65? Air resistance is a huge factor above 60 mph.

2011 X5 50i - if I keep it at 55, I easily get a sustained 23 mpg. City driving and Interstate speeds of 65-75, with short bursts to 80 occasionally and all the stop and go in city traffic - netting 19.1 mpg each week.

Wasn't much fun obtaining this number...
My usual M mode + sport mode and a heavy foot usually nets around 14.8

M Mode = gas guzzler mode.

What does the M mode do on the X5M in regards to throttle/fuel delivery/power? Thought it just adjusts throttle sensitivity?

That's pretty solid for a +5k lbs. vehicle that can roast a lot of other cars on the road!

Update on new injectors...Dropping the truck off Monday morning to replace the injectors again! I have been getting the dreaded engine malfunction message pop up on the i-drive almost every morning post cold start. I'm getting sick and tired of pulling over and re-starting the truck to get rid of the CEL just about every morning as soon as I go above 3k rpm

The back of the truck/bumper are completely covered in black soot along with my garage wall and whatever is parked directly behind me...mpg have dropped significantly, lots of back firing, loss of power. I'm meeting up with my buddy tomorrow to find out if they(BMW) flashed the truck back to stock which would cause these problems(tune wise)

I'll update this as soon as I get some answers
