Cool 1000 Mile update X6 35D

Right covered a thousand miles now, booting it a bit more now, handles like a sports Car once you can trust what your driving, economy has improved again, 31.7 MPG mixed short runs now, saw 34 MPG on a 40 mile trip yesterday.
The Car is getting better with miles and of course the P-Tronic Box is helping.
So many car drivers get right up my rear on the start of roundabouts
Only to see my rear power round at warp speed and then fly away from them.
I then ease off and let them pass a mile or two later and watch there faces, they just don't believe it.

cool..do you have any idea about time from 0-100km/h? regular 35d has 6.9sec..do you know what is yours?

The 6.9 sec are the official figures, all road tests I have seen right now indicated 7.6 sec, quite a difference !

Compared to the P-Tronic figures posted, assuming they are true, this is a world of difference...

Hopefully the gearbox can handle all the torque..
(I read somewhere the gearbox was designed for 750 Nm, can someone provide more info about this ? )

I have no idea what you are asking, and what is P tronic? What is 750 nm?

BMW X6 35d not as quick as some think

I test drove an X6 35d last month. I was not impressed.
It had all the bells and whistles fitted, anti dive suspension, sports servo steering rack.
I drove it everywhere in Sport mode, with my foot down hard whenever I could. It felt slow.
So I checked it out on our Belgian websites.
They are all showing 6,9, but I don't beleive it. It didn't feel that fast.
The tunning sites says they can add an extra 84 BHP into it, and lift the torque to 750Nm. Not sure what that would be in lbs/ft but its about a 60% increase.

Now that would be quick.
These people did my Volvo 2,4d and increased it from 127 to 182 BHP and doubled the torque, which is now 400Nm

based on those tunning figures, I wanted to buy one, but at 83,000 euros, man that's a lot of cash for a big fast 4x4. Cool thou !!!!

Now the Petrol 5.0i that's fast, and when the 5.0is comes out this year, that will be awsome. (still a lot cash thou)

was going to part ex my Volvo & my Cabrio for the X6 in Black, with some black 20 inch wheels with Orange pin strips to match my Harley.
Now that would be a Garage full of "cool"

Well I have covered 4600 Miles now, it is getting a bit looser enginewise, I am getting 32 MPG at boot down long runs and I mean boot down were possible, it is miles quicker than the standard X6 35D now with the P-Tronic box fitted.
It does take about 100 miles or so for the ECU to learn the new program though. To date my car has had NOT missed a beat and can be very quick on acceleration, it really kills ALL 4*4's ; bar the Porsche Turbo GTS Cayenne.

The only way to get the right 0-100 is to do it on a race track with the right equipment AND with a driver that knows how to do.
Everything else is just a feeling...
Small cars like the 3 series always feels quicker cause they are just small...

Do you really think that BMW did think...Hey put 6.9 on the paper...hmm

The p-tronic sounds nice! But is it worth it to get those 0.5 second?
Have to calculate how long it will take me to get the money back in less diesel consumption

X6 is so big that it gives you the sensation that acceleration is not that great (if you just watch the traffic). I still wonder why all other cars (almost one ton lighter) are taking off so slowly, and remain behind at 200-300 meters If you watch the tacho you'll notice that at 60 kmh you are only at 1500 RPM. . At 120 kph, you are at 2200 RPM or so. The first few meters from take off at green light are slow, then you catch up speed much faster. But even for cars with manual trans. 1st gear sucks.

PS: To take off with the X6, you need a bit more thump than with lighter cars. So bigger torque is needed. Once you get the high torque, you can built speed with less effort on gas pedal. So higher torque right from start helps the X6. I have now about 850 km with the tank and it responds faster to acceleration. The engine starts to learn faster power building

A tip.
At stop, step on the brake give the X some more rpm with the gas and then quick release the brake... There you go, it will give you a real kick
But dont do it to often

Ok, before any other critics of the 35D, I start loving to pass other cars in a curve. The lateral straightening of the suspension gives us an edge over competition. We can pass other cars in the middle of curves, without being bothered by the effects of the inertia on our bodies. I know that most drivers hate their bodies being thrown sideways when swerving abruptly. .The X6 just corrected this. It's great for me to find a sophisticated system on the X6 that gives the driver more stability, bodywise, behind the wheel. On my racing moto, I can achieve this on the track only by inclining my body to about 45% and pulling my knee out and down on the asphalt. But this action, done hundreds of time on a trackday, it's getting tiring. Glad that the X6 is bringing me so much confort when driving more aggresively.

To all of you guys, did you notice a slighter bigger sound from the engine when you reached your first 800-1000 miles? Maybe it's just me, but when gassing up, I hear better the engine revving up. Wonder why. . .I cannot imagine that the stock exhaust got noisier. .so soon.

Not a problem with it, I have chipped ALL my other cars and this P_Tronic box came from my 635D Sport which covered 15K untroubled miles with it fitted.

Mine was tested @ Snetterton Race track through the lights ( as all my cars are) so figures are correct sorry mate.
