New Tires
I now have 7K on my X6 which is enough miles that should I have a flat I will purchase 4 new tires as opposed to only replacing the damaged tire. I plan to go with a NON run flat tire. Dunlop only makes the X6 20 inch tires in run flat. I am considering purchasing Michelin Lattitude HP tires that I will store until needed due to flat or wear. Any other recommendations?

A word of advice, don't use X6 as the search criteria. Use the X5 with 20" wheels or search for the specific tire sizes. You will get more returns.

I am actually pretty sure that Dunlop makes the exact same tires as stock but in a non-run flat tire which is also about $100 cheaper per tire. I am pretty sure I found this out awhile back which is why I just ordered the space-saver spare tire option so I could use non-run flat tires. MY 2008 came stock with space saver space but now it is an option. |

Had recent xperience with flat tire on x6 3.5i.
For no hassle convenience, get the runflats, 2nd- get road hazard warranty, then any problem, u drive into dealer, & they do everything while u have coffee! If u prefer no compromise handling, because u run the Nurburgring everday, then get regular summer sport tires, carry a jack & spare be prepared to change the huge tire on the side of the road. Of course, disregard all of the above if u have bodyguards/chauffeur always following in 2nd car. They can change the tire & pour u coffee on the side of the road! |

+1 I have had 3 flats in 30 years.
I prefer to pay half as much for tires too.

Don't forget, Mr. Bill Cosby's son was kiiled by a robber while changing his tire on the side of the road, in the wrong part of town.
Very very sad & tragic. As one who've xperienced a blown tire with wife/kids in the car, 6hours out of town on the first leg of a road trip. I was lucky it happened during daylight hours & had a caravan of friends in their vehicles. It's everyone's own pocket book & comfort level, but i'm just sayin my $0.02 |

. .I didn't know this tragedy happened to Bill Cosby. ..
I would definitely run flat with a non run flat tire out off the wrong side of the town, into the not so wrong side of the town, rather than that. . Do you have more details about the Cosby case? |

Run Flat or No Run Flat? Depends on where u have blow out.
It happened a few years ago. His son was driving a MB SL. They may have caught the guy.
Such tragedy should not happen to someone who has given so much laughter/joy to the world. Don't be a victim, is my motto. Giving criminals the electric chair or the fire squad cannot undo the crime! |

I had so many flat on my previous car (wth run-flat tires) that I switched to non-run flat (Michellin PS2) and I loved it, never regreted this decision. With an x6 I of course had to order it wth RFT and now I am in this circle again. Because you have a flat tire and in most cases you have to change both tires because they are worn out a bit after some time and then the cost of replacing both is high. RFT are usually not in stock and can be bought (here in Europe) mostly at a BMW dealer, which then has almost monopolistic pricing on these tires that were produced for BMW dealers anyways....
