'12 X5 35i Oil type
It’s about time I change the oil and was wondering what you guys used for your x5. I have changed it once before myself and used Castrol Edge 5w-30. I have seen others saying to use 5w-40 and others saying 5w-30 is fine. My question is which one is best for me considering I am living in Southern cali around the La area. Last month it was hitting the 100 degree mark a lot and was wondering if the 30 was cutting it for the amount of heat the x5 puts out by itself

I used LiquiMoly 5w40 (Molygen; green bottle) on my 35i. Was living in Texas and never had an issue with burning oil etc. Now that I'm back in the NE, I switched to 0w40 to compensate for the much lower temperatures. Hope this helps !

Yah I forgot to mention I was having to top off some oil more frequently. Will try the 40 this time around. Appreciate it!
