X6 Roof Racks

Hey there just joined loving all the info on here.

I have an X6 without the factory fitted rails.

I would like to put roof racks on now and then for my bikes and kayaks.

Anyone know if you can get any roof racks to fit an X6 OR can you fit the factory rails post buying etc

It's too bad they didn't make the roof rails for the X6 like they did for the X5M. I like the more tapered look:

I'm still waiting for Yakima or Thule to come up with something for the X6 to mount surfboards & snowboards. The BMW options are flimsy

Why do they still need the longitudinal bars for roof racks??
I'm no engineer. but u still need add the bars ACROSS the roof to anchor things down. So why not strengthen the roof w/ anchor points system for just the bars ACROSS? They can act as down force wings when not being used as a rack.

Did you get the racks? If so, how was the install? Also- did you go with Yakima, Thule , or ? and why?

What's your favorite color? How many colors are there in a rainbow? If a tree falls...

It's a shame we you are a "little far away" because I'm taking off my factory racks tomorrow, it would have been great to trade mine against your solid rails......
