When is panoramic sunroof due for X6?!

I know it's on X5. Been a passenger in a Q7 fitted with one, on the way to Salonik, Greece, and loved the way it looks.

The X6 deserves that, more than the Q7. It adds up to the restraining interior space. . .compared to others in lesser leagues.

So, any thoughts or knowledge?

PS: Loved the "I Drive" version of Audi Q7. . .

PS2: How much is the panoramic roof on the X5?

Panoramic sunroof as far as I know (and everyone can see in on the roof itself and its downgoing line) will not be fitted to X6, as its roof is short in comparison to X5, Q7 etc. And also, now the classical sunroof is making headroom smaller in the front and back also, so I can not imagine what a X5 sized panoramic roof would do with headroom.

The lack of headroom in the back and the limited size were the reasons not to take the sunroof option.

On an X5 the headroom is OK with the sunroof, well it all depends about your size, if you mesure 7", probably you'll have to open the sunroof to fit in..

I highly doubt that the X6 will ever be fitted with the panoramic sunroof.

I absolutely love the panoramic sunroof (on my wife's car). I wish the X6 would sport the panoramic sunroof. But it is pretty obvious due to the sloping form of the roof line, that it is next to impossible to fit the X6 with the panoramic sunroof. The panoramic sunroof on the X5, X3, 5 and 3 series touring models (or sport wagon as BMW USA calls it) all use the same two panel glass system. It only requires a fraction more space from the headroom compared to the regular sunroof that the X6 offers, but there is simply not enough roof real estate available to implement the same panoramic sunroof.
I doubt that they would develop and manufacture a new (different) panoramic sunroof JUST for the X6. Another difference is that the simple sunroof in the X6 requires you to manually close the sun visor compared to the automatic open/close function you get on the panoramic sunroof.

I can't understand why people want to make the X6 into something it's not. It's NOT an X5, doesn't haul lots of s*it. I mean why aren't you asking why they don't have a panoramic roof on a z4, one look at the car would tell you why. This is a niche car not meant for generic use.

I absolutely agree with you, however if you look at the sunroof on the X6, it's a joke. It takes away from the headroom and gives back very little in return.

agree if I could have ordered without the sunroof I would have,
would rather have the extra headroom.

dude just fold down the rear seats and lay down facing up with ur head in the trunk and there u go a sunroof :P

jokes aside ... if i had noticed how small the sunroof is before i put my money down and had a choice i probably would've gone without it and went for the vented comfort seats

BMW announced the panaramic roof for the X6 for the 2009 model run. It will come with the BS package.

for me great thing will be targa roof,like porsche...that will be a sport and elegant solution for x6!

one more reason for not adding the panoramic sunroof is the extra weight that the X6 already has alot of

i might like having a bigger sunroof that doesn't weight more and does have a sun visor and can be actually be opened and doesn't take away more headroom from the little thats left in the first place

I am not so sure about that.BMW is is using high quality leather and other components in interiour,also sun goes throught all windows....
and in the end,what about cabriolets?!

Finally,i dont think that targa sunroof will done any damage to enteriour,it will just make it cooler.

Q7 has a similar shape of the curved roof as the X6. And the Q7 has a panoramic roof. So why not on X6?!
