BMW in BC Canada no longer provide free BMW courtesy cars

Just called Brian Jessel yesterday to make an appointment for my part replacement.

They mentioned that they no longer provide BMW courtesy cars free of charge.
It would either be:

- Free non-BMW (likely a Suzuki)
- BMW 320/X1 for like $30/day

They said this decision is made by BMW Canada, so it will affect all the dealers in the province.

Not sure if it is true, but it surely is BS..
I spent close to $100k on this car, and runs into problems that caused me inconvenience to come in all the time.

I am now punished further to have to pay for the loaner car (unless i roll with a non-BMW..)

Interesting...I've scheduled an oil change on Oct 1...the service person told me that if I want a courtesy car...it would be a non-BMW.
I just figured they don't have anything available that day.

Ya I also enjoyed trying different BMWs, and comparing their power/mileage/etc.
I tried the new 3 series 2 months ago and the gas mileage is much better than the previous model (with the ECO mode).

X1s also have comparable gas consumption against the old 3 series.

I guess I won't be able to find out these kind of things anymore without paying a premium for loaner cars

The US dealers, on the other hand, not only provided BMW mobility vehicles, they gave nice ones too. Ie. X5, 535i, etc.

Not sure if this change is going to strike the US dealers.

It better not strike the US dealers. I know in my extended service and warranty contracts, it actually spells out that you will receive a BMW loaner at no charge. Not sure which dealers gice out 535s etc, but everyone in my area gives out the new 3 series F30.

So what is the reason behind it? My friend has a Porsche and all courtesy cars at the dealership are Subarus.

That sucks, but if it makes anyone feel better, I don't get a BMW loaner from my local US dealer either, because I didn't buy the car from them.

So I drive in with an X6M and leave with a Volkswagen. Bastards.

If it's a GTI or a CC, I would not have a problem with that!

They had refused to offer BMW vehicles for loaner since 2009 and that was my last time there. Autowest had no problem.

Brian Jessel (the dealer) said the decision was made by BMW Canada, so this will affect all the dealers in Canada.

I wrote a letter to BMW Canada and they said loaner vehicles are owned by dealers, so they did not make that decision:

"We were sorry to read of the issues you have experienced with your BMW X6. Regretfully, BMW Canada does not have a loaner vehicle policy. Any loaner vehicle charges are set by the retailer who owns the loaner vehicles. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause."

So who is lying?..

This is really stupid on their part. My X6 initially was in the shop a lot and I always requested a loaner as it usually took more than one day to fix or get part. One of the loaners I had was a 335d (can't get it in the states anymore) my wife was looking for a replacement for her 330 after driving it she bought one.

BMW is losing perspective on the BMW experience, it's what allows them to charge premium prices.
