Australian E90's
Hi all,
The new 3 series is finally launched in Australia today (in Perth 25th May). The launch event, packed with around 200 people (!!), was held in the only one BMW dealer in Perth. 6 cars (4 320i and 2 330i) were shown and the centre stage car was a fully equipped 330i with carbon fibre lip/rear spoiler/18" wheels (195)!!! So cool. I didn't bring my digital camera (bugger!), so I took some low quality photos with my SE Z800i (1.3MP). Interestingly, I found out it worked with the E90 bluetooth system!! Yay!! Here is a TiAg 320i More images here I will take more photos (with my 7MP camera) when I testdrive the 320i and 330i next week So all aussies let's share your E90 experience!! Enjoy, and drive fast (safely)... Kingsley |

guys if you can't wait to take delivery now, it's going to be just as hard counting down till your next drive once you take delivery.
you will truly love it, especially if you are ading up from say an e46 323, like i did. i really thought (and still think) that i have another brand of car, even though it is a bmw. the engine & chassis have developed brilliantly with sensational handling. take off power & torque is terrific, but make sure you run the car in first, even though it's so willing to go fast from day 1. if there is anything i can help you with, just post 'em and i will try to help. all the best.

How long ?
For those Australians who have taken delivery in the later half of the year (ie: July onwards), how long has it taken for a custom built car to arrive - from order to when you were sitting in the car ?

I ordered mine from my dealer on 19th June 2005, it arrived in Australia last week and I am scheduled to pick up my E90 325i on Friday 9th September! So about 2 and a half months in total.
SGraphite, Terra, Poplar, 161 wheels, sun roof, Xenons + adaptive, HiFi sound, sport seats with lumbar, folding mirrors, sport steering wheel, sport suspension and 6 speed MAN. Oh i forgot, and also a digital compass in the rear vision mirror. Think that is all.... Shall post a report after i pick her up!! |

Its going to take about a month in total as i still dont know if the car will be here when the dealer expects it (14-18 of September). I must admit i was lucky because my car was already on a ship headed for Queensland. (Im in Sydney) My dealer located it and how luck turned out it has everything that I wanted which helped. 18" Elipsoide Wheels, Sports Steering wheel/Package metallic black, sunroof and just tody i have ordered the front Carbon Fibre lips and rear spoiler. Watch this space as i have started to explore the possibility of getting some parts imported to distribute to all the Aussies who like myself find it difficult to find BMW parts at a reasonable price or just even finding them at all is difficult. :rocks: Thanks for the post guys keep in touch and ill post pics asap. post or send me pics of you car.

Oz Delivery
Hi Guys - congrats !!
I ordered a 325 with pretty much everything a few weeks back. It is being built in a couple of weeks (week 38), and my dealer said don't expect it until November I don't know if he is just trying to manage my expectations or whether he is just conservative. Either way it is friggin frustrating - which is why I wanted to find out how other aussies are going with their orders. I guess in some ways if you order lots of things and you need the car specifically built to spec then you can expect a longer wait, but 3 months is really pushing it  Put up some pix when you get yours and all the best |

hey Costa I know what you mean mate I can't wait either and the problem is the longer I wait the more money i spend. My options since ordering my car include. Chrome tips, Euro Plates, Carbon Fibre Splitters, Rear spoiler, tinted windows, Ipod cable adapter. Spoke to my dealer today and he said i might be able to get my car as soon as the week after next. After all the bad press and reviews the Idrive got i opted out and will be getting an after market DVD/SatNav System i have not looked into it yet but if anyone can help out with this it would be great.

Like Costa, I ordered a fully loaded 325i a week ago, and they are expecting approx 4 months to deliver - making it just before Christmas when it arrives. Been pacing the house ever since, can't wait for it to arrive.

Hey Jamie: I am also in Adelaide - so there is only one place you could have ordered it from Reading one of your earlier posts, looks like you negotiated a pretty good price.
Funny how they give you the worst case scenario in terms of delivery - they said it could be as late as December but more likely November I am going stir crazy waiting - using these forums as an outlet. Aussie_E90_SBLACK_325: I was under the impression that the chrome tips came standard fit - how much extra did you have to pay ? Anyone else ? |

Costa it didnt cost much at all i think it was about $75 Aussie, Carbon fibre fitted $1306, Tinted windows $395, rear spolier painted and fitted $625. Sports steering wheel only $200, I really wish i found this forum earlier as i didnt know much about the Idrive. But after reading so many positives about it im kicking myself that i didnt opt for it. Now im looking to buy an aftermarket Sat Nav/TV screen. Good thing about it that i have a big budget considering it would have cost me $6999 Aussie if i took it up in the first place. According to my dealer my car comes with sports suspension as i have the 18" elipsoide wheels factory fitted.
Aussies please keep in touch and fill us in with pics and info I have a max wait of 2 weeks :rocks:

I was happy with the deal I got, I didn't think that they would deal on a new model, especially given the experience of those in the states where they were only getting $500-1,000 off. When you pick yours up in November, spare a thought for me still pacing

But I would love some advice on any top notch sat navs. I know that everybody keeps saying this but i will to ...i bloody cant wait to get my car......... Waiting for my E90 reminds me of when i still believed in Santa Clause...same kid like excitement. haa lol. maybe we should have a therapist write in to help with our addiction haaa haaa

LOL - that is a great analogy - Christmas, I know exactly what you are saying there. I don't think we need a therapist, BMW should give us visitation rights to a demo fleet on some periodic basis to keep the onset of DTs from withdrawal at bay...
