Australia is isolated by a huge body of water and they've blocked all African flights? Good for them. I wish our government had this much common sense but alas, I wouldn't be surprised if they want Ebola to spread so the elections don't occur in November.

I have some good friends that are top-notch scientists/doctors. One of them worked for a major pharmaceutical company in the 1990s. (Note: He is still working today, although at a different major pharmaceutical company.)

He and his colleagues had come up with an anti-viral medication that essentially cured AIDS. A week before they went public with all of their findings, trial results, etc. (all of which were remarkably positive), the FDA came in and shut them down arbitrarily. The FDA said that the company made some technical errors on financial paperwork.

They were not given a chance to rectify what amounted to clerical errors.

The FDA not only shut down the work, it also confiscated all of the anti-viral medication. The FDA thought it had confiscated all of the medication but a few of the scientists horded huge stockpiles to keep at home in freezers. My friend has continued to experiment with it and has used it to cure family members with various viral conditions.

I know all of this sounds wild but it's absolutely true. This is a serious, no-nonsense guy that shared all of this information.

He's pretty sure that Magic Johnson and other "high-profile" AIDS victims that no longer have any trace of the virus were able to pay big money to obtain some of this confiscated anti-viral drug. There's no other plausible explanation regarding how they suddenly became "cured."

The moral of the story is that people would be absolutely shocked if they knew what our government has done in the past. They are capable of truly horrible things.

If you want to read up on another government "conspiracy" - check out what has come out recently about TWA Flight 800.

Dozens and dozens of witnesses claimed that they saw a rocket streaking up toward the fuselage before the plane went down. All of the eye-witness accounts were virtually identical and they were suppressed/disregarded when it came to the official investigation and hearing.

Furthermore, evidence that indicated that the explosion was called by an external explosive device (i.e., a rocket) went missing without explanation.

The FBI handled most of the investigation (rather than the NTSB), which was and still remains unprecedented.

I agree. They're getting slammed for their course of action but I can't say I blame them, especially since they don't have the resources to treat infected patients.

I think the CDC is much more worried about the instant case in the U.S. than it is letting on. I think the government is in "prevent mass hysteria" mode.

My theory is that the guy knew he had contracted/been exposed to Ebola and came here so that he could get treated.

AS much press is saying that its not airborne and you have to come in contact with a body or bodily fluid in order to be exposed/contract the virus; this begs the question: Why in the fuck is the virus spreading so quickly and what sort of ritual are they performing in West Africa that is communicating the virus across so much of the population?

The thing about flight bans from "hot" countries is that it would be totally ineffective.

We would have to ban every, single inbound international flight for it to work. What happens if a man from Liberia who is infected, but asymptomatic, flies from Liberia to the UK...hangs out for a weekend, and then comes to the states?
