They talk about that German Television show "Grip" has the privilege to go "behind the Scene" in secret winter Testing of Prototype X5M and X6M in "arjeprog" (in Scandinavia).

They say X6M/X5M has more than 100HP more than the most powerful "normal" X6/X5.
The BMW worker tests how well the X6M (or its DSC) handles oversteer and understeer.
Then they try to start at a 25% hill with one side ice and the other tarmac. The control system has to avoid that the car rolls back.

When the blue X5M is shown they talk about the new camouflage foils with asymmetric patten. They are easier to use than the older metal added camouflages.
Then the driver talks about BMW regulations about how to drive a prototype car: "Don't park in front of a motel. Some cars have to stay inside the testing area."

They test about 2 Months per Winter in Scandinavia.

PS: sorry for my English, I'm from Germany

it goes like this...she said that it will have 100hp more than X650.....I think at least 100hp because we will have 507hp again....boring....but at the same time she said that X6 will be the strongest production BMW ever....I think the same thing goes with the X5 too....
These cars are going into series production by the end of year....
My predictions are these....knowing bmw X5 and X6 will have two same engines , same horsepower and everything , I mean what the hell is special about 4.4 and 507 .hell Alpina has the same engine , M5 M6 507hp now well have 4.4tt and 507again....I hope Im wrong

so 500HP, 0-60 under 5 sec and 130 THOUSAND dollars in USD ?????? thats a lot of money to pay for any car, i would get an aston martin for that price. but wait aston martin is totally different category, but still 130G for a damn SUV is a lot.

Like with the M3 we generally don't pay a direct conversion of the EURO to US dollar. BMW gives us a substantial discount in price maybe even more becuase isn't the X line built in the US too? I am sure we are the biggest market considering how much this country loves there SUV's (SAV SAC.. whatever)

What is 100K

Trust me to a select few, $130K is nothing especially when its taxpayers money buying it for you. Rings a bell about recent headlines about some companies. Don't want to name any financial company names, but they know who they are out there...

well yeah if you just convert it but thats not going to be the case... the X5 50i starts at 76,100 EUR in germany but starts here in the US for only $66,650. so my guess is that the X6 M is going to be around $95,000....

They are doing awful lot of promo for these things... when the new M3 or M5 came out you could only dream about tests like these made by some magazines before the actual launch of the car.

i suspect they're pushing them hard, because of purists, who think that an X5 & X6 shouldn't be in the "M" fold. they've got to make the case that these are true "M" vehicles, by pushing them.

on the M3, M5 & M6, you expect people will appreciate them. they float out some HP numbers and 0-60 (0-100km/h) numbers, and people will automatically consider it a sports car.

it's just marketing.
