New owner needs help

So i purchased my wife a 2009 x5 this weekend. Today when i started it the service light was on and its red. It has the date of 11/2011 under it. I know how to check what is wrong with my e90 when this happens but no clue and cant go to dealer today. So just want to make sure its nothing that "has" to be done.

Sorry in advance for asking something that has already posted but im on the app and cant search. Thank you in advance.

If it makes a difference in checking it does have navigation.

you would have to navigate through Idrive to find out what service it needs.

Ok. Can you point me in the right direction. Maybe steps to get to a "service" area.
