X5M Engine Cover - How come the new M5 engine is missing all the plastic?

I wonder why BMW decided to cover up the engine on my X5M, the new M5's engine is beautiful. Why would they want to hide the same motor in the X5M?

X5M came out before... so the M5 is really their second shot at it. It also looks like a different intake set up. Kinda bums me out all we get to see is plastic when we look under the hood. Im planning on dropping some k&n filters in Ill take some pics when i take all that stuff off.

that engine looks like a piece of art. It's a shame that it is covered on the /mx5.

The intake is much different on the X5/6; therefore, it probably isn't as sexy.
