E70 Running Board Dilemma

I'm looking to purchase a paid or running boards off of a member of the forum to install on my 2013 X5 35d Sport. I spoke with a good friend that works at my local BMW dealer and he spoke with parts and suggested/informed me that 2012 X6 running boards are not a direct swap. The only validity to his statement was that the part numbers are different.

My questions is... Does anyone know if 2012 X6 running boards are direct fit to a 2013 X5? Many thanks for any input.

James

I have a set of X6 running boards for sale, and thought they would fit on a X5, but now I am not sure. Can anyone confirm?

They are not really that inexpensive. I just installed them on a CPO 2013 X53.5D and they cost about $1400 for parts and labor for installation at a dealer. I called an independent before that and they quoted me $1,300.

It's funny the differences between people. I rejected quite a few cars when I was searching, because they had running boards - I just do not like them.

Anyway I wish you well in your search

I completely agree. I love the look without; but, I drive a lot and it would make it a lot easier constantly getting in and out, and reduce the seat wear as an added bonus. I'll keep on hunting.
