This is my wife's primary vehicle, so she got what she wanted-premium package, running boards and space-saver spare. As it comes with lots of standard features for 2012 many packages were not necessary to order. We were thinking about the SAP, but decided against it due to black headliner that would clash with the all beige interior. Good luck with your car shopping and feel free to PM me if you'd like more details.

About to order 2012 35d
Hello everyone,
Don't mean to hijack the thread, but didn't want to create a new thread. This thread looked like a good place for my post. New to the forum, although been reading for a while as unregistered user. Great information and tips - appreciated. I am about to order 2012 x5 Diesel after weeks of research and debating between 35i and 35d. Test drove both, and although the gasser was quicker and smoother a bit, liked the diesel due to fuel economy and yes, the torque. Talked to a few dozen dealers in several states looking for a descent quote (dealers in the Seattle area are not that flexible). Got the following quote from an Oregon dealership - looks good to me. Is that what some of you were paying? Just want to get a feel on prices. Base $56,700 Leather Nevada Cin Brown No Cost Premium Package $3,500 3rd Row $1,700 Vermillion Red Metallic No Cost Navigation incl. w/ Prem Pkg Running Boards $300 Dark Bamboo trim No cost Destination $875 Total MSRP $63,075 Discounts -$7,160 (2500 Eco + 1730 Nav + 2930 dealer discount) Sub-Total $55,915 Thanks, -Serge |

Am I reading the online configure tool correctly that the 35d Sport Activity Package has the Adaptive Drive in it? I'm guessing not but one can hope.
Adaptive Drive is still my biggest value question. I have read many people on here swear it's great, but never have I been able to find one that had it to try it out myself.

Your base MSRP is off by $400, the configuration that you listed totals $62675 with that correction. I pulled some invoice numbers from edmunds.com, and I came up with an invoice price of $57675. What I have seen people pay on these forums is between $500-1500 above that number for dealer profit, plus tax and fees. That would bring your price to between $53945-54945 after rebates ($4230), but before taxes and fees. In addition to your sales tax, doc fee and license fees, there is a training fee of $200 and there might be a MACO fee in the max amount of $400. Those two fees are passed down from the manufacturer to the dealer so they are real. With that said, everything is negotiable. There are a couple of sponsoring dealers on this site (one east, one west coast), that would sell you a car online. It might not hurt to get a quote from them. Best of luck! PS: Check out edmunds for more details on the invoice pricing. |

OP: What do you think of your '11 X5 Diesel? Pros and Cons?
I'm thinking of one as well and would welcome your input. Thanks, Chris

It handles great despite not having the sport package and the torque is great! I actually like where they placed the DEF fill ports in the engine bay instead of the left rear bumper as it is on the 335d. Hope this helps!

I believe the Eco Credit is $2500 for the 2012MY. $3500 is for the 2011MY.

Got my 2011 X5 35d yesterday!
Drove for 5 hours from Oregon. Love how the behemoth handles elevation (doesn't even downshift!) and turns. Feels very solid, like a tank, and yet grips the road solidly. All that while getting 19 mpg uphilll to the mountain pass! I must say that the grunt of the diesel sound begins to grow on me as well.. The big surprise to me was the white angel lights, since I was expecting the 2011 to have those that are more yellow. The white ones were a big reason I was considering a 2012 instead of 2011. Configuration: Alpine White Oyster Nevada Leather Cold Weather Package Premium Package Rear Climate Package Technology Package Roof Rails Heated Rear Seats 3rd Row Satellite Radio iPod and USB adapter BMW Apps Got the vehicle from Carrera BMW in Bend, OR. Great sales and financing team. Got me approved 3.99% , despite no history of such P.S. First (and I am sure won't be last) problem. Neither of the 2 remote controls open the tailgate! Got an appointment for Tuesday to take a look the problem at my neighboring dealership. P.P.S. Photos later Last edited by serge1; 10-12-2011 at 01:48 PM.. |

Looks great! Looks just like mine except I have the dark bamboo trim with black nevada leather! Your right that the headlights were a pleasant surprise not being the yellow halos!

I forgot to mention if they're any military guys out there that Navy Federal Credit Union is offering 1.79% for 60 months! I couldn't pass that up!

Althought I originally wanted Cinnamon Brown, I am getting used to like Oyster. Truth be told, I expected Oyster to be a bit more white, like milky white, with some silver tones. At least that's how it looked on all photos I have seen (never saw in person). It turned out to have more beige tones in it. Hope this helps those that plan to order one with Oyster leather. You need to see it in person to know if that's what you really want. The tailgate not opening was a user error. Just pressing the button does nothing. Pressing and holding it for more than 2 second causes panic alarm to go off. You need to hold for approximately 1 second and wait a second untill it engages. The X5 needs to be unlocked prior to this. Really loving the vehicle. Went to downtown Seattle with wife kids at night yesterday - they loved looking up at the sky scrappers through the roof. Speaking of kids. Went and bought clear 1/2 mm thick table plastic cover. Will be putting that in the back row ASAP, before any spill accidents BP-style. Also, thinking hard about clear paint protector. If there are people on this thread that went DYI, any tips are appreciated. Weighting going DYI vs. 500$ at a tint shop. |
