It most likely has to do with Sirius, unless you have an equipment malfunction or possible corrosion on antenna wires. They (Sirius) have a finite amount of bandwidth for all stations, that's why their sports stations have REALLY poor sound quality. My wife used to work at XM and told me once a sports event ended, she would have to cut off transmission to free up bandwidth for the music stations and thus improve quality. I don't know why they can't just up the bandwidth tho?

it's a Sirius thing. they keep adding channels which shrinks the bandwidth thus reducing sound quality
