Rear tail lights stay on?

I noticed that on my 2011 the rear tail lights stay on when the front DRl's are activated. I went to the lighting setting and turned off the DRL's and that was the only way to disable the rear lights from being on, but it also turned off the front DRL's. I have noticed many X5's with the angel eyes on but the rear lights are off. What is up with that? Just curious. Thanks

Check your headlight switch. Sounds like it may be in the wrong spot. Set it to automatic and forget about it. The automatic setting is the one with the A. First setting in from the left in mine.

Yeah if I'm not mistaken the angel eyes are always on for Auto, Off, DRL, and On. Only way they go off is with the car turned off. Someone chime in if this isn't true.

My taillights are always on too. I'd also like to know why regardless if lights are on and switch is always on "auto".

If tail lights are always on while headlights are in auto position then you've got a problem the dealer needs to address. That's not supposed to happen if it's too light for the headlights to turn on.

People, stop it. There is no problem.
2011 models with LED coronas have tail lights on with DRL. 2012s and later models do not.
